Risk is a fast-growing Thomson Reuters Segment, this is a very exciting opportunity to join a business in an innovative and dynamic industry. It focuses on connecting our customers' business to the ever-changing regulatory and risk environment. 

Role Summary: 

As a Software Engineer in the team, you’ll be responsible for the analysis, definition, design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of the products the team owns. You’ll work closely with QA engineers to deliver to the high standard that our customers expect.

You will also mentor junior team members, working alongside the team management to help further enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.

Qualifications


Essential Skills and Experience: 

  • Experienced software engineer with excellent knowledge of the Java language and underlying JVM
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Familiar with various design patterns
  • Experience of unit testing
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL
  • Understanding of security implications and secure coding
  • Understanding of HTML and XML
  • Self starter - does what it takes to get the job done
  • Superb communication skills, verbal and written
  • Skill for writing clean, readable code and reusable Java libraries
  • Proficient using source code management tools such as Git or SVN
  • Experienced in a formal agile software development lifecycle

 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience with RESTful interfaces
  • Experience with web technologies such as Javascript, JQuery and CSS
  • Familiar with continuous build and integration
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behaviour Driven Development
  • Understanding of multithreading
  • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies

 

Education/ Certifications: 

  • A good relevant degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are just as important.
  • Oracle Java certification is desirable but not required.
