Job Description

Library Assistant
Salary £15,606 - £18,270 dependent on experience, Career Level: Primary Contributors (Band 2)
Full time: 37.50 hours per week
We are seeking a Library Assistant to help us deliver an exceptional and accessible library and information service for St Andrew’s patients and staff.
Firstly, a bit about us
St Andrew’s is the UK’s leading mental healthcare charity with an excellent and well-deserved reputation as a provider of specialist mental healthcare, and a top 20 charity overall. We have a multi-disciplinary team of over 4,500 staff who deliver world-class, innovative and holistic care each day across our five locations.
As a charity, all of our profits are re-invested into new services and new facilities, a legacy which has carried on through our 178 year history. Today we proudly continue to build world-class mental healthcare services – with Europe’s largest adolescent unit recently opened. And because we’re independent, we have the flexibility to make a real difference in the world of mental health.  Joining us is your chance to make a big contribution to the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable people.
The Role
Tasks will include responding to research requests, assisting readers, supporting patient volunteers, selecting stock and online resources, contributing to the development of both the Academic Library and the Patients' Libraries, and raising the profile of the service.
The Person
You will be committed to the aims of St Andrew’s Healthcare and you will interact sensitively and respectfully with all patients and contribute to transforming their lives.
You will possess a library related qualification (or be willing to work towards one), or have experience of working in a library or similar environment.
The role holder will have a helpful attitude and be a good team worker with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills and will be able to interact and engage with all our library members; supporting them in their recreational learning, educational and vocational needs. There are also some physical demands to the role.
