Using nursing skills to make a real difference to the support we provide online to people affected by cancer.

In 2016 as part of our innovative Ask an Expert project, nurses from the Macmillan Support Line answered 1,300 questions from members on our online community. We reached over four million people online last year We want to build upon the success of the project and reach new audiences by recruiting a Digital Nurse.

The Digital Nurse will be working on the UK’s largest online cancer support community within our busy Ask a Nurse facility. You’ll maintain and support our Ask an Expert area, answering questions, creating a safe and supportive environment for our members that meet all required standards and guidelines. As the front-line nurse support, you’ll engage directly with our audiences.

You’ll help Macmillan Cancer Support to make best use of our community and social media tools, working with the web editors to create integrated user experiences and providing user insight as requested. You will be an outstanding communicator, confidently engaging with people and building frameworks for others to do so.

Ideally you have experience working across digital platforms and enthusiasm for social media. You will help support colleagues at all levels to make best use of the tools available.

In return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment, we will actively develop you and offer excellent benefits including a 34.5 hour week, private medical insurance, life assurance, pension or continuation of NHS pension, CPD to support revalidation childcare vouchers, reimbursement of NMC fees, generous annual leave, and interest free season ticket & gym membership loan.

We would be happy to talk to you about the role or arrange an informal visit before interview. To arrange an informal visit, or if you have any questions, please contact k.goldie@macmillan.org.uk.
