The Unit Mechanical Engineer serves as the primary point of contact for area equipment issues on his/her designated units. In addition, the Unit Mechanical Engineer will serve as a resource for equipment technical information and supply guidance to area operators and craftspersons. As a member of the central Reliability organization, you will work closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams to develop longterm reliability plans and assist in meeting compliance requirements. This position reports to the Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Superintendent.

  • Act as a mechanical technical resource for the area Operations and Maintenance team
  • Participate in HITRAs, HAZOPs and MOCs
  • Participate in project planning
  • Prepare inspection and testing variances
  • Write job notes, review TAR job notes and provide technical troubleshooting
  • Support TAR Planning by providing input into the work-list scope
  • Provide input into the Reliability Plan and provide unit shutdown and start-up support
  • Understand short-term and long-term reliability, availability and mechanical integrity risks
  • Aware of operating envelope excursions and awareness of abnormal reporting in the intellitrac system
  • Analyze reliability data and link to the new reliability metrics, and compile and discuss top 10 risk lists with unit
  • Participate in the development of reliability strategies with an awareness to cost driver impacts
  • Attend and provide input into the weekly Unit Health meetings
  • Provide input into maintenance priorities based on equipment risks and the inspection plan
  • Understand criticality and un-spared status of unit equipment

Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum of 4-7 years of plant maintenance, reliability or project engineering experience or 2-3 years of refining experience
