The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work... The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring optimal utilization of refinery maintenance resources to support process unit mechanical availability for an assigned area of the refinery. This job description is intended to provide an overview of the position and does not include all the tasks that might be required to provide support for your area job requirements.

  • Directs, appraises, counsels, and coaches employees
  • Supports refinery-wide supervision of routine activities of specialty services including asbestos management, scaffolding, high pressure water blasting, vacuum truck operation and ground disturbances. Manages the refinery's annual asbestos abatement program
  • Responsible for refinery-wide accountability associated with the roles of Asbestos Coordinator, Scaffolding Coordinator and Cleaning Pad Coordinator
  • Champions the safety assurance and auditing processes involving specialty services
  • Improves refinery-wide utilization and coordination for specialty services
  • Works with Operations Superintendent, Operations Coordinator, Maintenance Coordinator to build and enhance teamwork
  • Coordinates maintenance activities for assigned jobs
  • Develops and implements improved job methods, techniques, tools, and equipment for improving overall maintenance effectiveness
  • Optimizes the utilization of craftsmen, both within the area and across the site
  • Assists Planning in defining scope of work, material lists, estimates and in reviewing bids
  • Assists in developing and justifying recommendations to address backlog management issues and overtime
  • Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of craftsmen to jobs, reviewing scope of work, identifying and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming schedule viability
  • Responsible for performing maintenance work in a safe, efficient and effective manner according to plan and for ensuring quality of work
  • Determines changes in scope and appropriate course of action to minimize schedule impacts
  • Ensures the appropriate technical resources are notified and consulted to test and evaluate equipment
  • Ensures accurate and complete data is captured regarding repair work, equipment data, changes to plan, and recommendations for future work
  • Creates and maintains a proactive focus towards equipment maintenance
  • Develops and reports assigned performance measures and utilizes information to identify and institute improvements
  • Administers the union - company labor agreement fairly and firmly, with an understanding and consideration for the company's position on issues. Coordinates actions and responses with other members of management. Investigates grievances thoroughly and responds at first step. Participates in arbitration hearings as required

  • Required: High School diploma
  • Preferred: Associates/Bachelor's Degree

  • Required: Five years (Associates) or seven years (High School diploma) relevant experience
  • Preferred: Three years refinery maintenance or project related experience
