The Project Manager (PM) leads and manages project teams with accountability to ensure that projects are planned, designed, procured, constructed, and commissioning within time, cost, schedule, quality, and safety expectations.

Job Description

The PM delivers safe and efficient projects that meet the business objectives, and also provides “owner” oversight and direction of third party engineering and construction resources. The PM will typically manage multiple projects, ranging from $5M to $50M each. The current project portfolio includes several infrastructure projects, including building modifications/construction, so experience in this area is preferred.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute projects consistent with BP expectations/processes and deliver desired project business objectives
  • Drive Injury and Incident Free project execution
  • Drives strong Front End Loading (FEL)
  • Achieve cost and schedule targets competitive with industry
  • Deliver Quality installations
  • Build Business Unit project capability and effectiveness
  • Drive Continuous Improvement through learning

Project Management

  • Drives good project management discipline through all stages of projects
  • Ensure that project activities comply with all applicable BP assurance requirements
  • Ensure the cost effective use of BP’s Capital Value Process (CVP)
  • Lead/support coordination and execution of all project deliverables
  • Ensure appropriate design reviews are carried out.
  • Develops Project Execution Plans (PEP)
  • Controls scope and manages changes
  • Monitors and reports project status to key stakeholders (i.e. cost, schedule, safety…)
  • Initiate and completes project Close-out Processes

Communication and Teamwork

  • Manage and coordinate the flow of information between the project and key stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate Best Practices and Lesson’s Learned
  • Lead inductions for new project personnel
  • Develop and coach staff to ensure their continual growth
  • Coach and develop direct reports to improve their capabilities

B.S. in Engineering/Technical Field

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in projects, operations, maintenance or engineering in a petroleum/manufacturing facility
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing projects
