We are at the forefront of Law enforcement in the UK and we look for a wide variety of skills and experience to protect the public. Whatever your role you will have a vital part to play.
Our role is to protect the public from the most serious criminal threats.
We are currently looking to recruit 1 x G3 Manager, Terrorist Finance Team to join the UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU) The UKIFU sits at the heart of the international response to money laundering and terrorist finance. It has responsibility for receiving, analysing and disseminating Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), from the private sector, taking action on these reports and disseminating to partners. It provides the intelligence “engine room” for law enforcement action against money laundering and terrorist financing.
The UKFIU is going through a period of expansion, and a number of new posts are being created, including at managerial level.
The Terrorist Finance Team is responsible for receiving SARs made under the Terrorism Act 2000.
It conducts detailed checks on these and engages with partners in counter terrorism policing to disseminate actionable intelligence. It has responsibility for decisions on whether to grant or refuse a defence against terrorist finance offences.
These decisions have the effect of freezing funds, giving police the opportunity to take investigative action. In addition, the team exchanges intelligence on terrorist finance with international FIUs, sitting in a network of global intelligence exchange.
The team also reviews reports submitted under Proceeds of Crime Act 2000 for potential terrorist finance connections. It engages with a range of partners in law enforcement, government and intelligence communities working with other team managers to provide assurance to the senior team that officers have adequate training to discharge their statutory duties and in line with the requirements of the Director General’s designation of functions to the UKFIU.
This role is for the manager of the team, responsible for all the team’s work. The successful candidate will supervise the team’s operational responsibilities, ensure the processes and people are in place to manage intelligence appropriately and effectively. The team is responsible for some important statutory functions, and the individual appointed will be responsible for further developing the team’s role and internal and external profile.
The successful candidate will represent the team, UKFIU and NCA at external engagements and events, and manage relationships with a range of partners. They will provide advice to UKFIU senior managers on terrorist finance issues, including on the operational impact of policy and legislation, seeking legal and other expert input as required.
