About the team

The Marketing Events Team have a remit to provide a central service of event and project management to the UK marketing teams within the Primary, Secondary, Clinical, BTEC and Apprenticeship, Work-Based Learning and Higher Education Services businesses. The team of5 is responsible for leading the planning, delivery and evaluation of a range of 3rdparty events at which Pearson either exhibits or sponsors including the Annual Apprenticeships Conference and the Academies Show. The team also take part in organising a number of Pearson led events including the BTEC Awards, Maths Factor Graduation and the Shine a Light Awards, and evaluate the success of these events against set objectives. The two primary drivers of the events we arrange are to generate new leads and to promote the Pearson brand.

About the job

You would predominantly focus on operational and logistical delivery but will also have an understanding of the different channels in the marketing mix and the importance of using brand in an event campaign.

The role will be predominately based in our London Office at 80 Strand but UK travel is sometimes to the other Pearson offices orvenues to deliver the event portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

Supporting the team to plan and manage a wide range of exhibitions and conferences, working towards independent delivery of own events portfolio

Building and maintaining excellent cross project team relationships where required to progress a project forward

Using a wide range of planning tools and documents to support the event management process including:

  • creating and managing budgets required
  • preparing creative event project plans and timelines with regular tracking
  • providing ongoing project management and event logistics support and regular updates on project progress as defined in the project meetings and in line with the core services provided by the event team
  • preparing and circulating internal and external speaker briefings
  • attending project planning meetings and taking minutes
  • liaising with delegates and speakers including planning travel and accommodation
  • liaising with 3rd party suppliers including venue finding agencies, production companies, stand contractors, exhibition organisers and other event suppliers as required, managing the relationship, adhering to the procurement process and ensuring best value and high quality output
  • overseeing programme and content management for Pearson Led Conferences and event
  • creatively using brand as part of an event campaign
  • undertaking research for new events
  • fulfilling administrative tasks for the team as required


About you

We are looking for a bright, confident and passionate individual, who has made the decision that they would like to pursue their career in exhibition and event planning. You will be part of a passionate and dynamic team that are eager to offer support and guidance in order for you to build a successful career as a Marketing Events Assistant.

Qualifications and experience

Full training will be provided to the successful candidate but the following experience is preferable:

  • Demonstrable understanding and interest in the event planning process and / or evidence organising events in a previous role, during study or as a volunteer
  • Successful completion of an Internship involving event planning


  • Customer and client-focused
  • Meticulous organisation and have an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Responds positively to the changing environment and can effectively adapt plans to meet the new objectives
  • Demonstrates an understanding of external factors that need to be considered when planning events
  • Confident in speaking with key business stakeholders
  • Creative and willing to contribute ideas to projects to improve the performance of the Marketing Events Team and project groups where possible
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team and being accountable for decision making, liaising with manager and colleagues where appropriate
  • Flexible and willing to provide extra support during busy periods.

What you will learn

At the end of your apprenticeship you will have completed anEvents Assistant Level 3 Standard qualificationand developed a whole host of business skills.
