The role

We are looking for a positive, creative and driven Marketing Exec/Assistant to join our Higher Education Marketing Team. You will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns for our English Language Teaching (ELT) products and services. You customers will include educators within universities, colleges and language schools across the UK and Ireland.

You will working closely with the local field and telesales teams to grow Pearson market share and enhance brand awareness across this diverse and exciting market. The role will also develop relationships with key associations and retailers to increase Pearson’s impact at events and in the wider market and liaise with authors from around the world to create a first-class series of campaigns to generate leads and new revenues.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead on the execution of marketing campaigns, devised to deepen awareness of Pearson’s content and support across the Global ELT portfolio.
  • Actively collaborate with local sales teams to ensure they are fully briefed ahead of campaign execution date, to ensure that time spent with customers is fully optimized, deepening relationships and generating leads.
  • Proactively work with the wider Global ELT team to access product information in a timely way and convert generic messaging into high impact local messaging.
  • Manage price lists and bibliographic information to ensure internal Trade team and external retailers and distributors have access to accurate product information.
  • Support preparation for events, attending where required, to ensure that the Pearson presence is befitting on the audience and that showcase materials and lead capture methods are fully prepared.
  • Undertake quarterly analysis on campaign performance and collaborate with the local ELT team to enrich future campaigns with the learning undertaken from the analysis.
  • Liaise with authors across the portfolio, to support their promotional activity where it blends into the wider campaign plan objectives.
  • Support the wider HE and ELT team with campaign broadcasts, ensuring continuity of campaigns in peak and holiday periods.
  • Lead on additional marketing administration duties to support the wider Higher Education & ELT team such as desk research, data analysis and project management across specific team activities.
  • From time to time, engage in special projects and tasks that go beyond the remit of the role.


This is a role that supports a well-defined campaign plan focused on a diverse market and it is important that the individual can contribute to the day-to-day business processes that underpin campaign execution.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

● Prior experience in a marketing exec/assistant level role

  • Strong organisational skills to drive efficiencies in business processes alongside the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively

● Creative flair that brings a product proposition to life through messaging, campaign mix and experiential opportunities for internal teams and customers

  • Ability to prioritise workload and campaigns in line with expected return on investment and stakeholder needs
  • An awareness of the needs of sales colleagues representing this portfolio to customers

● Attention to detail in the careful management of data and title information being shared to colleagues and customers

● Confidence in putting forth proposals for alternative working practices to ensure resources are optimized and processes are reviewed and updated, as required.

● Excellent communication and networking skills, a team player and ability to deal with stakeholders at different levels of seniority.

● The ability to be proactive in a busy environment, a self-starter who can work autonomously to drive projects forward, with confidence.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Enthusiasm and drive – a self-starter who can inspire & motivate
  • Results driven with the energy and resilience to make things happen

  • Ability to work under pressure and stay ahead of complex schedules
