We are looking for a skilled mechanical team member to assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of our assets attached to the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer scheme and pumped groundwater sites within various groundwater schemes under our control within the Area.
Working with 5 other team members, both electrical and mechanical, the role will provide maintenance, inspection and repair activities on the schemes mechanical assets. In addition the role will report back maintenance activities undertaken and any issues arising using the inhouse maintenance management system. There will also be some involvement in the delivery of local mechanical projects.
The role will be required to participate in a standby rota and be available for call out. These activities are paid separately through standby and overtime for out of office hours working.

The Water Resources Operations and Hydrology Eastern Area team leads in the operation and maintenance of the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer scheme and pumped groundwater schemes in the area. The Ely Ouse to Essex transfer scheme is a large water transfer scheme, transferring water from Denver (near the Wash) to the Rivers Stour and Blackwater, using a combination of pumping stations, pipelines and in river transfer.
• qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
• a proven track record of mechanical maintenance experience within the industrial sector
• living within 50 miles of Newmarket near Cambridge
• a full driving licence is essential as the role will be required to travel through out Suffolk and Essex to fulfil its duties, for which a badged vehicle will be provided
• IT skills along with good written and verbal communication skills
• the ability to work both within a team and without supervision
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had previous experience in the inspection, maintenance and repair of both submersible, surface mounted pumps and associated equipment, including pressure vessels
