Job Description

Dietitian/Specialist Dietitian –

Grade Band 5/6 / Professional
Salary: £24,161 - £35,899
Hours: Flexible, numerous opportunities available (permanent and fixed term)
Location: Northampton or Birmingham

Due to recent restructuring within the department a number of exciting opportunities have arisen for enthusiastic HCPC registered Dietitians.  As we have a range of posts available we would welcome applications from qualified dietitians who are keen to work in a unique mental health setting.  Previous experience is not necessary as support will be provided.

Firstly, a bit about us
St Andrew’s Healthcare is the UK’s leading mental healthcare charity with an excellent and well-deserved reputation as a provider of specialist mental healthcare, and a top 20 charity overall.  We have a multi-disciplinary team of over 4,500 staff who deliver world-class, innovative and holistic care each day across our five locations.

As a charity, all of our profits are re-invested into new services and new facilities, a legacy which has carried on through our 178 year history.  Today we proudly continue to build excellent mental healthcare services – with Europe’s largest adolescent unit recently opened.  And because we’re independent, we have the flexibility to make a real difference in the world of mental health.  Joining us is your chance to make a big contribution to the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable people.

The Role & Person
Working as part of a centralised dietetic team you will gain support from the band 7 dietitians within the department and the support of dietetic assistants.   As a dietitian at St Andrews you will have the autonomy to make decisions that will help improve patient outcomes.

You could have the opportunity to work in one or several of the following areas; brain injury/dementia, CAMHS, learning disability and autism.  You can expect to have input with a wide range of nutritional needs including nutrition support, dysphagia, weight management, diabetes (type 1 and type2), food allergies and intolerances.  This role will build on your existing dietetic skills - clinical knowledge, communication skills, motivational interviewing, case load management and collaborative working.

St Andrews has a strong ethos of multidisciplinary working and the dietetics team works closely with the on-site catering team to help shape menus to support the fresh cook catering service including the dysphagia kitchen.  You will also work with other teams such as speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and sports & exercise teams.

Along with this you will have the opportunity join in house training sessions in areas such as dysphagia, autism and personality disorders.

Rewards & Benefits
St Andrews Healthcare offers an attractive benefits package including pension, sickness policy on par with the NHS, 35 days annual leave, life cover, car lease scheme, cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers, healthcare cash plan, free parking and paid DBS application.
