The role involves the management of the National Injuries Database (NID) Case Support Officers. The provision of National and International support and advice using the NID for evidence-based cases on injury causation and forensic medical issues

Job Description

• To suggest and assist with the instruction and sourcing of relevant medical and forensic experts for evidential opinions for court.

• To advise and promote good practice in the imaging of injuries.

• To assist with the development of the National Injuries Database and to quality assure all cases that are input onto the National Injuries
Database (NID) by the Case Support Officers and Placement Students as well as the Child Death Database - Operation Marshall.

• To provide management statistics and performance reports as required by the Manager.

• To present the services of the National Injuries Database team to law enforcement and forensic practitioners both nationally and

Key Responsibilities

You will need to demonstrate the below technical / experience criteria:

• A practical knowledge of the application of forensic science and forensic pathology, and forensic specialists.
• Experience of using databases, conducting analysis and research, and interrogating data.
• Proven experience of line management responsibility and working to tight deadlines.
• Proven experience dealing with serious or major crime investigation,

You will also have the below qualifications or skills:

Essential Criteria
• A forensic science degree.

Desirable Criteria

• A proven ability to present to individuals at all levels.

Please note: The role involves regular viewings of graphic post mortem and clinical medical images of both children and adults; therefore exposure to this kind of material previously is desirable as well as the coping mechanism involved.
