The Premier League’s Partnerships Team is responsible for relationship management, contractual delivery and activation across all Premier League Partners and Licensees, including EA SPORTS, Barclays, Cadbury, Carling, Coca-Cola, NIKE, TAG Heuer, Topps and Sporting iD.


We are currently looking for a Partnerships Operations Manager to manage day-to-day relationships and ensure effective delivery of rights across all Partners and Licensees.


The successful candidate will work closely with the Partnerships Strategy Manager with the aim of adding real value to these relationships by helping Partners and Licensees deliver best-in-class activations, campaigns and products.


The right candidate will have considerable sponsorship activation experience, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a creative approach to problem solving.

The League and its clubs use their power and popularity to inspire fans and partners through investment and engagement in communities in the UK and across the globe.


The Premier League’s responsibilities include organising the competition and its Rule Book as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. But the work we do goes far beyond the 90 minutes. Alongside the Premier League clubs, we provide a framework for youth development, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work, protect the organisation’s intellectual property and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.


The role

The Partnerships Operations Manager will join the team at an important time as the Premier League begins a new commercial cycle starting in summer 2019.  Working closely with the Head of Partnerships and Activation and Partnerships Strategy Manager, the successful candidate will lead on the operational management of all partnership matters and will manage a team of three, including two Partnerships Executives and one Partnerships Assistant (temporary).


The main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day relationships with all Premier League Partners and Licensees.
  • Managing the operational delivery of contractual rights to all Partners and Licensees.
  • Liaison with Premier League Clubs regarding their rights and obligations in relation to central Partners and Licensees.
  • Managing the approval and delivery of Partner campaigns, including support across Premier League digital platforms.
  • Managing internal and external resource requirements, including external activation agency and consultant relationships, and budget management?.
  • Setting and measurement of clear objectives and key performance indicators for all Partners, Licensees and projects. ?
  • Optimising the Partnerships Team’s systems, processes and databases to deliver the best possible service for Partners and Licensees.
  • Working closely with the Partnerships Strategy Manager to maximise activation opportunities and the value of the Premier League to all Partners and Licensees.


Requirements for the role

  • Significant experience of working in a sponsorship related environment either for a rights holder, brand or agency
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational skills and a methodical approach to partnership delivery and activation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative in thinking, with a flexible, ‘can do’ approach to problem solving and negotiation
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects and partner matters at the same time
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and programmes (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Nice-to-haves for the role

  • Experience and understanding of commercial contracts
  • A good knowledge of football and, in particular, Premier League football
