The person in this Computer Deskside Support role (AKA, Site Technician) would be overseeing computer resource assets (150 ) at our San Antonio Scoring Center. Responsibilities to include maintaining, troubleshooting, and imaging employee laptops as well assisting the site manager with administrative (employee- facing) tasks. This is an hourly (15 p/h) entry level role during regular business hours.

Overall Functions and Responsibilities

  • Imaging/maintenance of workstations by adding print functionality, and troubleshooting hardware issues.
  • Imaging/maintenance of Admin workstations by adding them to PEROOT domain, adding print functionality, troubleshooting hardware issues, installing software and configuring IP addresses.
  • Administrative trouble reporting through Service-Now by opening and closing tickets.
  • Design, setup, and teardown scoring areas, cubicles, conference rooms and computers.
  • Prepare materials for scoring including, but not limited to, material tracking, hardware inventory, organization, and movement prior to and following scoring project.
  • Maintain and control warehouse and work area in an orderly and safe manner in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain shipping logs, handle receipt and shipment of materials and assets in and out of the center through established procedures.
  • Collect materials at end of project and prepare these for final shipment or archiving.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to system users.
  • Install, modify, troubleshoot, and make minor repairs to pc hardware and software systems.
  • Provide process improvement solutions where needed. Create documentation of solutions and review with site management team.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all lift equipment and racking. (if applicable for site)
  • Receive direction from the Site Manager and perform other duties as deemed necessary.
  • Provide security by monitoring main entrance of the scoring facility, checking badges of scoring personnel, and logging in and distributing authorized badges to visitors according to company regulations.
  • Assist in control of business sensitive information including maintenance of security badges, records, and sensitive materials pertaining to the nature of Pearson business.
  • Perform general clerical functions including filing, typing, mail sorting and distribution, answering phones, send/receive faxes, photocopying, etc.
  • Maintain logs and other records according to established procedures.
  • Use personal computer to develop and maintain spreadsheets, perform word processing functions, data entry, etc.
  • Operate and request maintenance upkeep on office machines, including fax, photocopier, laser printers, etc.
  • Give and receive information by phone relating to products and services.
  • Maintain supply inventory through ordering, receipt, and stocking of supplies.
  • Check for completeness and accuracy of timesheets and key-enter data into timekeeping system.
  • Use HR Hiring Record to create and maintain the Project Attrition Spreadsheet.
  • Assist Human Resources (HR) in administrative duties as needed.
  • Provide before-and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred or equivalent technical/computer experience in a business environment.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system and basic understanding of Network TCP/IP.
  • Communication, organization, inventory control, teamwork, and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to collect facility requirements from scoring directors and implement scoring floor design and pc set up for all projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret and process documents and write routine reports.
  • Must have pc knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team, working overtime and off shifts as required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Must have ability to lift objects weighing over 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, and push carts loaded with heavy materials.

Please note this is a temporary (non-benefits eligible) onsite role at our SATX center with anticipated duration of: April through Mid-July, 2018.

Role requires availability to work during regular business hours 8-5 M-F, w flexibility to work OT and weekend at times of peak business.
