DWP Digital - an organisation with a budget of £900m+ and 4000+ staff - provides the vital digital services, technology and infrastructure on which our work depends.

This is a critical and visible role in DWP Digital and involves supporting one of our most senior leaders, the Digital Chief Operating Officer (COO).

It is a hugely interesting, complex and fast-moving environment where high demands are placed the COO, both outwards into DWP/Digital and inwards into their own function. These complex inter-relationships are managed between the COO, their office, their Senior Leadership Team and others. However, the Lead Directors Support Manager sits at the heart of this system and ensures that the COO, and by extension DWP Digital, delivers on their objectives and ambitions.

We are looking for an experienced Personal Assistant who will assist the Digital Chief Operating Officer (COO) and their SLT in responding to the range of imminent demands.

  • Experience of managing and prioritising a Minister/Director's/Deputy Director's office to ensure effective use of time, enabling the Director to concentrate on priorities.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively in lieu of a Minister/Director/Deputy Director, building long term strategic relationships.
  • Experience of working flexibly and in an agile manner to deliver in a fast paced environment, managing conflicting demands and priorities, accepting responsibility for appropriate tasks while utilising delegation, identifying and escalating issues and overcoming blockers.
  • Experience of providing support services to senior leaders including collating and providing papers, including use of digital channels such as Microsoft Outlook, OneNote, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience of arranging forums and meetings, providing briefings, capturing outputs, following up on action items, and tracking requests.
