Personal Assistant to the Director

Job Description

We are seeking a well-organised and reliable individual to act as Personal Assistant to the Director of the Firoz Lalji Centre for Africa and the Centre for Public Authority and International Development and as Research Administrator across a number of existing grants. This is a varied and stimulating post and will consist of a wide range of PA duties. These will include managing of the Director’s diary; arranging meetings; preparing and circulating of papers, agendas and minutes; making travel arrangements and copy-editing/preparing documents for publication. In addition, the PA will have opportunities to engage in planning and hosting events and assisting with research communications. This role offers a suitable candidate the opportunity to join one of the foremost social science universities in the world, with a global reach and international student intake.

Candidates should be highly organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, multi-task and work to deadlines. Candidates will be educated to degree level and have previous experience in administration, preferably within an HE institution, or PA work. Demonstrable experience is required in maintaining efficient office systems and strong attention to detail. The candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and organisations. The willingness to support research and academic programmes are essential.
