The Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) is a research centre based at the LSE

Job Description

PSSRU, along with partners at the Universities of Cape Town and Sussex, has recently been awarded funding from Research Council UK’s Global Challenges Research Fund to strengthen responses to dementia in seven middle-income countries. The STRiDE project involves a consortium of partners from these seven countries as well as partnerships with Alzheimer’s Disease International and Dementia Alliance International. 

 

PSSRU is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Officer to start in March 2018 until 31 December 2021 to work across the STRiDE project, supporting the development of a Theory of Change approach for the overall study as well as one in each of the seven STRiDE countries; situational analyses in each STRiDE country; qualitative and quantitative data collection; and some data analysis and modelling. This is a varied role and will involve working flexibly to support the needs of the STRiDE project.

 

Candidates should have:

  • a PhD, or be working towards completion of a PhD, in a relevant discipline, such as health services research, health policy, social policy, gerontology
  • experience in the dementia field that demonstrates the capacity to produce independent original research
  • skills in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • demonstrable understanding of issues involved in collecting and analysing data from dyads of individuals and proxy respondents
  • ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
