Summary:

Pearson’s Information Technology team design, build and deliver global, foundational technology platforms that support Pearson’s vision of connecting with every learner, on any device, anywhere in the world, and to improve their lives through education.

Pearson’s Information Technology teams need support to ensure the TEP ROW Wave 8 program deliver cross functionally as all of the TEP ROW Wave 8 projects/workstreams have connectivity and dependencies between them. A holistic view of those dependencies, clarity on impacts and changes is required to ensure the delivery of TEP ROW Wave 8 is successful.

The role will ensure that the TEP ROW Wave 8 program is set-up for success in terms of reporting, adherence to processes, standards and governance as set out by the Portfolio team.

This position is responsible for working for the TEP ROW Wave 8 Program Director and with the global ROW projects leads across all workstreams to ensure that the quality of data being reported is of a high standard, dependencies are being managed and that risks & issues are raised appropriately at the right level.

SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB

The TEP ROW Wave 8 PMO Manager will work within Pearson’s Information Technology’s TEP ROW Wave 8 team, reporting to the TEP ROW Wave 8 Programme Director. This role will also involve working in a global function with the Central Program team within the TEP ROW Program, the in-country Tech leads, the Data Workstream lead, Global Business Process Owners and all other key stakeholders and contributors to ensure there is alignment and consistency in the level of reporting, standards tools and templates and governance coming from the tools and that program leads are managing their dependencies within the tool.

It is your responsibility to make sure that all processes related to a project’s completion are carried out in the most efficient and effective manner while simultaneously upholding a given set of standards and the ultimate goal of the PMO Manager is ultimately to drive forward high priority projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The PMO Manager’s responsibilities will include the following tasks:

Ensure the successful implementation of the PMO’s strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables

Monitor Programme reporting and assist the Wave 8 Central Team in reporting to Senior Management.

Adhere to the Info Tech framework and standards for Programme and Project Management

Provide and maintain a capacity planning and resource tracking service across the Programme

Support in managing the Risk Log, Action Log, Decisions Log, and Issue Register

Ensure cross-programme dependencies are managed and the dependencies accurately maintained.

Prepare regular status reporting to all levels of the business

Ensure efficient change control methods and process are utilised

Coordinate with all the individual Project managers for each workstream to ensure all plans are updated on a weekly basis

Workstream/Line Management responsibilities:

Work supportively and collaboratively with other teams

Build relationships and trust with key stakeholders to support program delivery and adoption of enterprise architecture.

Communicate in line with program communications and plans with team and wider stakeholders.

Matrixed reporting of all technical stakeholders responsible for a solution

Support the relevant project technical teams to deliver effectively

Key Challenges:

Understanding and developing simplified processes around governance, reporting and demand management across the whole of technology

Ensuring understanding and adoption of the processes, tools and templates in a global environment

Some out of hours working will be required to support the global organization

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience in working within a PMO environment

Experience delivering global programs throughout the software development lifecycle

Proven experience managing dependencies, releases, risks and issues

Proven experience aligning and holding stakeholders to account

Strong skills in critical thinking and analysis, meeting facilitation, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions (e.g. partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.).

Proven capability to understand and meet requirements from both internal and external customers

Proven track record of working in an agile methodology using some level of continuous integration

Must be able to identify and work with stakeholders to collect, aggregate, and evaluate requirements in light of current and future technology and resources

Must be able to understand the overall business strategy to ensure components of the Platform and technology capabilities vision align with those of management and other stakeholders

Must be able to weigh the value of delivery against the impact of the change to our application ecosystem, resources at hand, and future of the technology landscape

Strong skills in Google products especially Google sheets

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience with Portfolio and delivery tools such as Smartsheet, Jira
