The Portfolio Management Office (PMO) exists to ensure Macmillan undertakes the right change initiatives, in the right way, at the right time in order to achieve our strategic objectives.

What is the role?
As a vital member of our team, you will manage a portfolio of key change investments across two or more of our directorates, working closely with strategy and planning colleagues to ensure that it is strategically aligned, interdependencies are fully understood and the impact of the change assessed, so that design and implementation are managed and sequenced appropriately.

The Services Portfolio Manager will focus on changes across our direct and indirect services working closely with leaders, programme and project managers and staff in our Cancer Support Operations and Policy and Impact directorates. The Corporate and Fundraising Portfolio Manager will work closely with colleagues in our Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Legal and Audit, People and Strategy & Performance directorates.

Portfolio Managers are core members of the PMO and you will play a key role in its continued development.  You will work across the organisation to embed a culture of best practice project and programme management to improve the delivery of change initiatives, using your coaching and influencing skills to build capability.

Who are we looking for?
As a highly experienced programme manager, you will be adept at moving between understanding the nuances of change initiatives across a varied portfolio and the wider strategic picture, ensuring that portfolio benefits deliver our strategic objectives and change is implemented effectively.

You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships and influence at all levels. You will be comfortable dealing with a strategic challenge one minute and a day-to-day project and programme management query the next. You may in the same day find yourself presenting to a senior leadership team and later delivering an introduction to project management and be able to bring the same level of energy and enthusiasm to both.

What can we offer you?
Macmillan is consistently ranked as one of the UK’s most loved and trusted charities and a market leader in the sector. Macmillan is dedicated to reaching and improving the lives of people affected by cancer. The need is greater than ever for our help and we want to be there for every one – no matter who they are, what part of the country they live in, or what type of cancer they have. As a Portfolio Manager you can help deliver the change that's needed.

In return for your commitment we will actively develop you and offer benefits including private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous leave and interest free loans for season ticket and gym membership.
