Portfolio Specialist- English language arts (Fixed term Contract 12months)

Description

Main purpose:

This role contributes to sales enablement, customer training and product strategy for our US curriculum portfolio, with particular emphasis on our English Language Arts products.

This includes:

●Enabling sales indirectly (through training and toolkits for our Pearson sales and distributor sales teams, supporting solution design for customers, and general back office support / coordination on the portfolio)

●Enabling sales directly (through school visits and customer presentations, and arranging author visits)

●Collecting and feeding back customer and competitor insight to shape our go-to-market strategy

●Working closely with colleagues in our Global Product Organisation to ensure we have the best product, sales support, pricing and business models for our region.

Key responsibilities:

Field sales and partner support

●Represent Pearson as a product/category and ELA subject matter expert at local events and in sales conversations to directly drive new adoptions of Pearson series, plus support the retention of existing business.

●In conjunction with marketing, organise reputable authors to visit the region for professional development opportunities.

●Support Customer Experience colleagues with customer training in key back-to-school periods as required.

●Run periodic and annual product training (face-to-face and virtual) for sales teams (including distributor partners where appropriate) on key product features, customer profiles, key messages, successful implementation examples, and relevant education trends and research.

●Support marketing by organizing and facilitating ELA user groups to support classroom teachers with Pearson ELA digital products

Customer insight and segmentation

●Understand and be able to communicate customer and learner needs in the region using educator language, through regular customer visits and occasional third-party market insight projects.

●Use these needs to help inform local and/or global product planning

●Create and continually build on a detailed view of competitor strengths and weaknesses at a regional level.

●Define likely customer segment profiles for our key US series, and strategies for targeting those segments.

Portfolio support

●Support the US Portfolio Manager, sales and marketing teams, and Service Delivery colleagues, with back-office tasks relating to the US portfolio, e.g. pricing and ISBN queries, compilation of recommended US titles for Ministry adoptions

●Be the expert voice on US ELA curriculum to support Content Development teams when creating local adaptations of US product

●Build relationships and work closely with colleagues in the Global Product Organisation to ensure we have the best possible frontlist for growth, including proactively planning for pilots and regional testing of new digital platforms and solutions as appropriate.

●Monitor and report on sales at course / product level on a monthly basis.

●Categorise titles and products for growth, sustaining and retirement.

Qualifications

Competencies, skills and training

Essential:

  • Minimum three years’ US curriculum K-12 teaching experience, with a specialism in English Language Arts
  • Experience of training other teachers on aspects of US curriculum pedagogy or products
  • Experience of using technology in a K-12 school environment and developing data-driven learning strategies to drive learning outcomes.
  • Experience of working with Common Core curricula and/or various US State Standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a complex organisation
  • Good understanding of Pearson’s products and services for the Middle East market.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, and ability to draw insights from data
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a global and changing business environment
  • Ability to travel within the UAE (i.e. driving license) and around the region as required
  • Bachelor’s degree

Desirable:

  • Experience in a commercial role in an education company
  • Arabic proficiency
  • Experience defining product requirements
  • Marketing experience (in the education sector)
  • Sales experience (in the education sector)
  • Post-graduate degree
