Responsible for the planning, performance insights and reporting of the Global Aromatics Business Unit (BU).
Supports the VP Aromatics and the Finance Director in preparation for key performance, plan and forecasting discussions within the BU as well as between BU and Petrochemicals leadership.
Leads PPR activities and processes within the BU and regularly provides guidance to site teams and PPR staff throughout the BU.
Supports optimization of business performance. The role applies a Finance lens and deep understanding of business issues and provides challenge from an independent, financial perspective.
Drives performance analyses and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement of business performance.
Drives standardization of PPR processes across the BU and ensures alignment across sites of how key processes are implemented (e.g. MPR, Plan, GFO, CBM, cost reporting).
Key liaison with the Petrochemicals PPR team.
Leads and facilitates the BU annual strategy refresh and planning process and enables the business to fully understand the impacts of decisions and drive better conversations and decision making.
Owns the BU planning and GFO process and provides regular guidance to site teams on related requirements and expectations.
Incorporates site Business Improvement Plans (BIPs) into the overall BU plan and outlook. Facilitates and ensures a robust tracking process around the strategic initiatives and plan expectations for the BU.
Supports the Global Aromatics VP and the Finance Director as well as other business stakeholders by providing insightful analysis of performance using KPIs and trends, including timely presentation to the business of any insights , improvements and interventions required to support future prioritization and planning.
Prepares regular Monthly Performance Review (MPR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), Strategic and Annual Plan materials, analyses and key messages to a high degree of quality and insight. Supports and facilitates the implementation of Commercial Business Management (CBM) in the Aromatics BU.
Drives a program of continuous improvement within the MI landscape to promote standardization and simplification through a systematic approach.
Skillfully selects the appropriate method of communicating analyses of results and forecasts to ensure clarity, conciseness and effectiveness of the messages (e.g. utilization of waterfall/brick graphs, separation of environmental effects).
Ensures the MI requirements of the business are met in the most effective and efficient way and are aligned with both the business and wider Petrochemicals MI strategy. Proactively develops and proposes levers and actions to manage performance.
Summarizes financial and operational performance of the BU and evaluates and articulates the underlying delivery of actuals vs. latest forecasts on a monthly basis to incorporate into outlook for the year.
Coordinates relevant parties to deliver information which provides forecasts and plans. Engages with key stakeholders and facilitates the preparation of financial and operational performance reports, including month-end and quarter-end close, forecasts, analyses and budgets.
Provides commentary on forecast variances to facilitate business discussion and decision-making and ensure forecasts remain accurate and robust.
Leads and coordinates the BU business risk management reporting process and applies independent challenge.
Leads the Global Aromatics BU PPR team including on HSSE, energizing staff, building capability, developing talent and ensuring effective execution of the team’s accountabilities with focus on continuous improvement.
Leads the BU PPR agenda in performance and plan reviews and owns the PPR processes within Global Aromatics (e.g. sets GFO expectations and facilitates the process).
Leads the PPR network within Global Aromatics and influences without direct authority PPR staff at sites as well as peers and stakeholders through the BU. This role is also the key BU liaison with the Petrochemicals PPR team.
Proactively develops and monitors the calendar and PPR deliverable timelines to ensure timely delivery of the Global Aromatics PPR MI. Proactively engages and communicates with the BU Finance Director and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding and review of results and forecasts has been completed in advance of key BU/SPU reviews and meetings.
Understands the relative strengths and weaknesses of capabilities across the BU PPR network and advises the Finance Director on the most effective and efficient way to complete PPR related projects.
A Bachelor's degree is required - preferably in Finance, Business, or Accounting
MBA and/or professional qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA) is preferred
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and understanding of business drivers in order to drive performance conversation and measurement for the business
Strong communication (oral and written)
Strong influencing skills and working with extended teams without direct reporting line
Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
Knowledgeable in technical accounting and financial statements
