Our Technology and Global Operations teams provide the essential digital infrastructure and seamless operations that underpin Pearson’s global portfolio of products and platforms. We have open and collaborative teams in place working to build efficient global platforms, processes, and scaling digital products to reach hundreds of millions of learners around the world, while delivering elastic, secure, data-driven services.

Within Technology and Global Operations, Strategic Planning and Performance Management supports our teams to effectively drive digital transformation and proactively understand and manage our performance

To do this we work across our transformation to:

  • Accurately report on status against our goals
  • Support effective governance and drive decision-making (particularly working with the Chief Technology & Operations Officer and his leadership team)
  • Understand and help manage the link between delivery activity and financial and operational performance
  • Partner and communicate with different teams globally (including HR, Finance, the Global Change Office) to understand performance, decision-making, and engage teams in our digital transformation
20% of your time will focused on training/your apprenticeship coursework 80% of your time will be spent in the office supporting your team

What you will be doing

Supporting senior stakeholders within Technology and Global Operations

  • Help preparation activities for Senior Leadership Team meetings - this will include helping draft agendas and meeting timings, collecting all materials needed to support the meetings, organising logistics with EAs, following-up key actions
  • Managing reminders to teams to update key reports to given deadlines - such as Pearson Executive Management (PEM) and Board materials
  • Help draft presentation materials for Technology and Global Operations managers

Coordinating team & ensuring focus is kept on key priorities and critical activities

  • Owning the calendar of events of the team - adding and checking on deadlines for submissions to be approved; escalating to SPPM lead when deadlines missed
  • Maintain priorities and action lists
  • Maintain and Update intranet communications - sharing good news stories and upcoming events
  • Learning Pearson systems for expenses, travel, invoicing etc

Optimising key processes and creating standardised templates

  • Help SPPM team draft standard templates to keep our asks simple and consistent

Building up knowledge of Technology & Global Operations at Pearson

Networking and building strong relationships with key stakeholders across Technology and Global Operations


Key skills & competencies

The position would suit a highly motivated self-starter who would like to pursue a career as a within a large dynamic organisation.

  • Able to build good working relationships with a variety of teams.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent and accurate organisation and planning skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Sound Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and a good working knowledge of Email (Google Mail or Outlook)
  • Understand the need to be discrete and respect confidentiality at all times
  • Problem solving skills


  • Experience in preparing reports / supporting key governance meetings
  • Have basic exposure of co-ordination or project management roles

Business Administration Apprenticeship – Level 3

During the Apprenticeship, the post holder will work towards gaining Level 2/3 qualifications in Business Administration through work based learning.

As part of the training for the advanced Business Administration Apprenticeship you'll complete:

  • Level 3 Standard in Business Administration
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in English and mathematics (if required)
