We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Qualification Database Management team as a Qualification Database Manager, based in our offices in central London. The Qualification Database Management team sits within the Business Improvement and Regulation division of Pearson Education and has a vital role in the creation and configuration of Pearson UK's qualification data on our bespoke internal databases.

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Qualification Database Management, the Qualifications Database Manager is responsible for supporting the team’s day to day work across a wide range of activities. This includes managing the set up of all externally assessed vocational qualifications; the ongoing maintenance of paper-based exam series setup for BTEC qualifications; creating qualification records to facilitate the exceptional award process; creating and peer-reviewing set up requests for myBTEC qualifications, alongside a variety of other tasks.

Key Accountabilities

Set up externally assessed vocational qualifications

Leading on the timely and accurate setup of the qualification, unit and assessment data for externally assessed vocational qualifications on Pearson’s bespoke qualification databases.

Availability of vocational external assessments

Managing the creation and maintenance for all paper-based series as well as maintaining the onscreen test version availability for the BTEC and Functional Skills qualifications on the PQS1.5 system.

Creation and peer-review of vocational qualifications

Working with colleagues within the team to ensure the timely and accurate set up on a range of new vocational qualifications on the IQS and QMA systems; acting as either the initial keyer, or as the peer reviewer.

Tracking work progress and quality of work

Maintaining accurate records of progress being made when creating qualifications, units and assessments across the range of bespoke Pearson qualification databases, including assisting in the quality assurance of maintaining the tracking process for the qualification database submissions.

Support exceptional award process

Leading on the creation of all exceptional awards on both IQS and QMA within the team.

Qualification creation for myBTEC

Working collaboratively with the Senior Qualifications Database Manager to plan for and create all new BTEC qualifications that will be available via the myBTEC platform.

Respond to customer queries

Responding to customer queries and requests for work via a range of channels, such as emails, CRMs or via spreadsheets, prioritising requests as they arise as well as championing the use of the CRM platform.

Process Improvement

Continuously monitoring and reviewing processes, ensuring that they are working as effectively as possible. This will include working with customers and the team to highlight areas where working practices can be improved to meet the needs of the business.

System Improvements

identifying and reporting any likely sources of delay or conflict of priorities to the Head of Qualifications Database Management as well as maintaining excellent relations with the IT teams to issue or new requirements are identified and followed through to resolution.

Provide support to the rest of the Qualification Database Management team by sharing workload in busy periods

Provide support to other divisional teams and staff as required.

This role is a FTC until 31st August 2020.

The role is located at our offices at 80 Strand, near to the Tube

Salary for the role is circa £29,000 depending on experience
