Job Description

The Sr. Quality Assurance Specialist will provide oversight and technical input into quality control activities for fixed equipment, rotating equipment and instrumentation in both shop and field based activities. This role performs audits of suppliers / contractors in compliance with the BP North American Supplier Qualification program and performs audits of QC (quality control) functions within and outside of the refinery

  • Supports the strategic direction of the integrity and quality program. Assists in the development of a sustainable and optimized refinery integrity and quality program.
  • In-depth understanding of quality requirements and drives QC activities involving fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Leads and assures BPs quality process is followed. Provides technical direction on QA/QC activities.
  • Approver for compliance to BPs quality control process as work packages, projects, and turnarounds are completed.
  • Oversees and ensures the quality control paperwork is completed correctly by crafts or supervision performing the work.
  • Understands and applies applicable codes and standards to the work being completed.
  • Develops and executes a robust QC program and audit function.
  • Responsible for monitoring and making recommendations for change to established QC and QA program
  • Guides the complex in troubleshooting and eliminating problems.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced specialists as well as BP supervisors and craftsmen in application of established QC practices.
  • Supports Integrity Specialists where appropriate.
  • Leads in supplier / contractor audits in accordance with the BP North American Supplier Qualification program.
  • Coordinates the work of QC specialists and QC contractors that support large projects or Turnarounds
  • Participates in incident investigations where modification to our processes may be recommended

  • High School Diploma required, Advanced Quality Training or a BS Engineering degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards strongly required
  • Working knowledge with BP's Group Practices preferred

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience working in Quality Assurance or Quality Control role in heavy industry required; prefer experience in refining or chemical plant setting
