We are looking for a Regulatory Lawyer (or Legal Adviser as the role is known internally) to join our Legal and Enforcement team on a fixed term contract till the end of May 2022.
Our Legal and Enforcement team deals with contentious matters before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and the High Court. It also delivers advice internally on investigations and other legal issues.
As a Legal Adviser, you will provide high quality, risk based, legal and regulatory advice to a range of key stakeholders. As well as managing complex and high-profile cases, you will liaise with external legal professionals to share and gain appropriate and required knowledge.
You may be required to make formal decisions upon evidential and public interest tests. Where you become involved in conducting disciplinary or other proceedings, you will need to act in the public interest and ensure cases proceed in a proportionate and timely way.
You will need to demonstrate understanding of a regulatory environment as you will be involved in providing high quality legal advice and conducting cases either in house or with the support of external solicitors.

We welcome applicants who may be looking to achieve a balance between their personal and professional life. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week and are happy to talk flexible working. We are recruiting for this role on a fixed term contract/secondment basis till 23 May 2022, and contract length will depend on when the successful candidate is able to join. Towards the end of the contract period consideration will be given to whether it can be extended or made permanent, subject to available budget and adequate performance.

Our staff at present are working from home and will be returning to work when it is safe to do so and in line with government guidelines. Longer term, this role will be expected to be based out of our offices at the Cube in Birmingham city centre 1-2 days a week, and from home the rest of the week.
