Job Description

The Reliability Implementation Engineer is responsible for implementing the reliability improvement plan for the Texas City Chemical site. As the Reliability Implementation Engineer, you will support the Senior Discipline Engineers with the identification, creation, and completion of long term reliability plans. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing all root cause failure analyses for the site.

  • Implement the TCC Reliability Improvement Plan supporting the Petrochemical Reliability Strategy.
  • Coordinate gap assessments against the Petrochemicals Reliability Strategy. Implement plans to close gaps.
  • Participate in the TCC Reliability Steering Team.
  • Lead all Root Cause Failure Analyses with input from the UME's/Sr. Discipline Engr's. Follow the TCC RCFA procedure, document recommendations timely, enter actionable recommendations into IRIS, store on the Reliability SharePoint site, and share lessons learned across the Petrochemical sites through reliability networks.
  • Coordinate and prepare justification for purchase of needed critical spare parts.
  • With support from UME's and Sr. Discipline Engineers, develop reliability envelopes for site equipment.
  • Maintain site bad actors list. Identify causes of unreliability for the site bad actors, proposing and implementing solutions to meet site goals.
  • Identify and implement cost savings opportunities for site equipment.
  • Trend equipment reliability and publish the monthly reliability report. Include reliability near misses.
  • Provide input into the reliability forecast/plan, ensuring potential risks are factored into the forecast.
  • Act as a Mentor for level J or I Unit Maintenance Engineers.
  • Complete special projects as requested.
  • Lead FMEA's as needed/assigned.
  • Actively manage the TCC reliability risk register. Routinely communicate the risks to site personnel, recommend mitigations, and provide supporting documentation to justify recommendations.
  • Routinely publish reliability KPI's to the site and to the Petrochemical KPI resource.
  • With support from UME's and Sr. Discipline Engineers, develop and maintain equipment specific maintenance strategies as needed.
  • Seek annual input from key cross functional stakeholders across the site into the site's multi-year reliability improvement plan. Provide proposed plan to Reliability Steering Team for alignment.
  • Prepare and present reliability concerns during the monthly reliability network teleconferences. Benchmark reliability performance against peers through the reliability network and communicate shared learnings to the TCC site.
  • Champion safe work practices in the Maintenance and Engineering group.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and implement corrective action to lengthen equipment MTBF and MTBR.
  • Provide technical assistance on reliability and equipment issues to Maintenance and Operations as requested.
  • Understand how the work of the Maintenance and Engineering Team affects the environment. Support your area by minimizing impact on the environment. Support the site Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Uphold BP's commitment to health, safety, and security. Support your area to uphold BP's HSSE policy. Support the site Local Operating Management System (LOMS).

  • A B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required

  • 7+ years of experience as a maintenance/reliability engineer in a plant environment.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills in English
