We're looking for a junior or senior level researcher to join our Content Research and Analysis team.

Job Description

Which? is now the largest independent consumer organisation in the UK. At our heart, we comprehensively review and recommend which products and services people should consider or avoid. We have 800,000 plus subscribers of our content, so we need to make sure we feature exactly the right brands and information.

We're looking for a junior or senior level researcher to join our Content Research and Analysis team. *You will need to submit a cover letter for your application to be considered.*

Our researcher will help us to robustly pin down all the right companies and brands to put under the spotlight. You'll have a particular focus on telecoms and/or financial markets – covering anything from broadband or mobile phone providers to insurance or banking.

What you'll be doing

You'll be a pro at selecting the companies we include and exclude in our research - based on robust market data you've pulled together from reputable data providers. You'll then collate and analyse information and data effectively, to aid our comparisons.

In practice, this means:

  • You'll pinpoint the best sources of market information/intelligence to help ensure we cover the right companies.
  • You'll be comfortable doing your own primary research with companies where necessary – for example, by making direct requests to them for detailed information.
  • You'll be responsible for understanding the services and products they supply and use this understanding to choose which we should cover.
  • You'll make sure that the ones we concentrate on are relevant, representative, and appropriate for our consumer audience.
  • Your analysis could involve anything from helping us devise ways to score different companies on the services they offer, to conducting robust price analysis to help consumers access the best value.

You'll need to stay up to date with market trends to make sure we're covering all of the things that matter most to consumers. There will be key markets that you'll monitor and be consistently up to speed with, and others you'll need to work out how to keep a weather-eye on.  However, you'll be able to apply your skills to research any consumer market from scratch quickly and come up with robust decisions about who and what we should cover based on the market.

You'll also be able to apply your judgement and analysis of trends and developments to scope our future research as well as spotting potential short and longer relevant content opportunities. You'll also be asked to contribute to our editorial content, particularly news and advice on our digital platforms and timely content in our magazines.

What we're looking for

  • You'll be comfortable with finding, collecting, collating, and applying market information to inform or underpin decisions.
  • You're appreciative of the relative benefits of qualitative and quantitative research methods and may have experience using both.
  • You're confident about building external contact networks and maintaining excellent business relationships.
  • As a bit of an Excel expert, your exceptional eye for detail and love of accuracy will meet our exacting research standards.
  • You may have experience with conducting person-to-person interviews and formulating questionnaires.
  • You'll have experience with content creation, or enthusiasm about contributing to our print and online outputs.
  • You may have experience with, or an interest in, telecoms or financial services.
  • It goes without saying that excellent proven time management skills will be essential to ensuring multiple deadlines are met in a fast-paced publishing environment.

If you are interested, we would love to hear from you. Let us know what makes you stand out from the crowd by sending us a covering letter and your CV. Deadline: Sunday 26th September 2021

What we offer:

We want you to do great work and enjoy it in a workplace that respects and empowers you. In 2019 we were a runner up in the medium-sized organisation category for Britain's Healthiest Workplace, and we signed up to the Time to Change employer pledge that protects staff against mental health discrimination. We're also a Stonewall-accredited employer.

If you work at Which?, you can expect a supportive team structure, the tools to grow and develop, and the knowledge that you're helping make consumers as powerful as the organisations they deal with.

We really believe in getting the best out of our people and enabling a healthy work/life balance. We offer a hybrid working policy, meaning you can split your time between working from home and being based at our modern, friendly, central London office.

Our excellent benefits include 28 days' annual leave, private healthcare, and an award-winning pension scheme, not to mention all the usual things you'd expect from a great employer: flexible working, Cycle to Work, season ticket loan scheme, etc. We even have access to a private section of Regent's Park, perfect for lunchtime strolls.

At Which? we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We want to receive applications from all regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, social economic background. We believe that a diverse workforce helps us to understand and create a positive impact for consumers. We want to ensure that everybody can apply and be part of our recruitment processes, and therefore when required we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate our candidates.

We're committed to making sure our application process is accessible to everyone who would like to apply for any of our vacancies! Please reach out to resourcing@which.co.uk if you need us to provide an alternative application method to support your accessibility needs.
