Sales Operations is a strategic, growing and high priority area for Pearson. Sales Operations has 3 goals: 1) Drive salesforce productivity and effectiveness; 2) Deliver strategic insights to sales leaders to facilitate data-driven decision making and informed business management; 3) Drive a world class sales experience for our customers.

The Sales Operations Manager is a key role in the organization. This role is responsible for sales crediting, sales crediting rules, and goal setting for the sales organization.

The Sales Operations Manager will work closely with finance, sales leadership and support teams. This individual will be an expert in understanding sales models, metrics, territory management and process flow improvement.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Manage sales crediting. Ensure timely exchange of monthly data among business partners, calculate eligibility, fields inquiries from sales colleagues, and initiates data investigation and communicates resolution.
  • Interact with all levels of management on sales crediting, issues and resolution
  • Identify, track and report on key operating metrics across a variety of teams and internal stakeholders
  • Manage territory alignment process in
  • Assist in the annual sales goal setting process
  • Recommend and drive process improvements

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and be flexible and adaptable to change management within processes and/or applications
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills; professional demeanor to maintain and enhance relationships
  • Understand upstream and downstream linkages of processes
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex sales crediting rules, critically analyze data, make recommendations to improve processes and systems
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment


  • A solid background in data analysis and/or Business Planning (Operations) or financial analysis is required
  • The candidate will need to employ project management abilities with problem-solving, communication and analytical skills
  • Experience working with is required
  • Knowledge of Oracle, OBIEE and Business Objects are a plus
  • Experience working with large complex data sets
  • Working knowledge of sales territory management
  • Power Microsoft Excel user, knowledge of database and sales support software applications. Strong analytical skills required
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to perform repetitive tasks with extremely high accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, executives, managers and subject matter experts.
  • B.S. or equivalent experience in business, finance, or related discipline.
  • Education Industry background a plus
