Today, much of our digital frontier is delivered via the public cloud and for us to continue to succeed in this space we need ever better, accurate, and timely management information. As a result, our Technology Operations team is now recruiting for a Data Analytics Senior Engineer to help develop a global cloud data and analytics strategy, guide deployment of new reporting capabilities and enable our technical teams and executive stakeholders to make more informed decisions through greater transparency into how our cloud installations are complying with our guard rails and policies.

What you’ll be doing:

Drive discussions with stakeholders to transform requests into concrete requirements and KPIs for data visualization or tooling.

Document, organise, and track requirements.

Design and build automated data pipelines and visualisations

Prototype data extraction and transformation

Extract data from a wide variety of sources using APIs.

Create fully automated, python-based ETL pipelines.

Build prototypes of Tableau Dashboards to deliver business intelligence

Work with stakeholders and the development team to validate the prototypes

Once prototypes have been validated, construct the final version of Tableau Dashboards and maintain them.

Manipulate and link different data sets as required

Spearhead ad-hoc data analysis.

Build spreadsheet tooling using queries or VBA as per stakeholder requirement

Support a variety of project and programme driven data analysis and reporting initiatives

What you’ll need to succeed in this role:

Good understanding of the end-to-end components like data storage, cloud computing, interfaces and visualisation

Expert understanding and implementation of the Software Development Lifecycle

Track record in working with senior management and stakeholders,

especially with regards to transforming ambiguous problem statements into explicit, well-defined requirements and presenting back business intelligence

Python - strong existing skills if external, ability to learn if internal

Good understanding of clean code architecture.

Good understanding of Test Driven Development and ability to build automated code tests.

Proficiency working with APIs, inc. REST.

Tableau, PowerBI and other visualisation package experience (level dependent on internal v external)

Expertise in using spreadsheeting software, including Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.

Previous experience of deploying to AWS Cloud services

Track record in working with various data storage solutions such as influx DB, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL and Amazon S3 is preferrable.

Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Attention to detail and planning skills

Collaborative and flexible working style

Comfortable working in a project driven environment with shifting priorities
