Essential Technical Skills
What will I be doing?
As a Senior Data Governance Manager, you will report to the Lead Data Governance Manager working closely with DWP Data Stewards responsible for DWP Data Assets to develop and maintain the DWP Data Governance strategy. You will be a key part of a Management and Oversight Team responsible for developing and maintaining Data Governance within DWP. The team will be part of the Central DWP Data Governance Team which reports directly to the DWP Chief Data Officer within the DWP Data & Analytics Directorate. As a Senior Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for part of the organisation-wide data governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on developing and maintaining a Data Governance Function to ensure adherence to an Enterprise Data Governance Framework for data policies, standards and practices, for all of DWP, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs. You will work closely with DWP Data Stewards and wider DWP Data Teams to improve the quality and value of core data assets, mitigate data risks and issues, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department. In addition, you will chair/attend the Data Governance forums and working groups as outlined in the Data Governance Framework in order to ensure there are clear accountabilities and audit trail of actions and decisions around the management of Data Governance activities, issues and risks.

You'll join us in our brilliant digital hubs in either Blackpool, Leeds, London, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield
Our Newcastle hub is a short walk from Longbenton you'll work on some of our most high-profile projects and enjoy facilities including coffee shops, snack bars, gym, sports courts and loads more.
Leeds is one of our most established hubs, so you'll work alongside some really talented teams on high profile projects. If you're not satisfied by the facilities onsite, which include coffee shops, restaurant, swimming pool and a dentist (not fun but very handy), then you'll find the best of the city on our doorstep. If you're anything like us you'll find every excuse to grab some great street food for lunch from the likes of Manjit's Kitchen and Fat Annie's in our near neighbour Kirkgate Market.
Blackpool is accessible from across the North West, we share our beautiful site with wild rabbit, birds, fish and a family of otters. We have great facilities including a gym, restaurant, coffee shops and zones where you can chill out and recharge.
London is in the heart of the city in Westminster the home of government so we're easy to get to by train, tube or bus. It's a really active hub, with a great onsite restaurant and regular social activities like lunchtime yoga and meditation. We are right next door to St James Park and 5min walk Victoria.
Sheffield is located just off the ring road, only a short walk from the train station.It has a modern, informal and collaborative working environment, and its facilities include a coffee pod, vending machines, cycle shelter and showers.
