Senior Graphic Designer
Pearson is seeking an innovative and goal-oriented Graphic Designer or Art Director to work with an onsite, client-facing team that is responsible for achieving positive results for a large, multifaceted national client in the middle of a digital transition.We want a designer who lives to create new things, who responds to brand guidelines with “challenge accepted,” who has an unhealthy obsession with typography, and someone who can rock both print and digital design.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the creative concept, design, and production of marketing materials, curriculum, websites, presentations, photography, digital conversion of periodicals, event collateral, email templates, social media content, and other design projects and support material as needed.
Ensure consistent adherence to the client’s brand guidelines for all marketing materials, products, and packaging.
Execute print/electronic production processes as well as coordinate distribution, ensuring all materials and communications are timely, accurate, and effective.
Select photography to be used in assigned projects; work with photographers to ensure that the composition, colors, and subject matter meet the requirements of the project and brand standards.
Has visual oversight of creative product from inception through completion to help ensure a high level of quality and integrity of concept.
Solid work ethic, self-discipline, persistence, and ability to work independently and in a team.
Review and approve print proofs.
Perform other duties as needed.
Approximately 80% of this designer’s time will be dedicated to design and concept development, 20% of this designer’s time may occasionally be in production. A successful candidate will bring the same positive attitude to both.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively explore, recommend, and optimize creative concepts, design, and production methods.
Present creative ideas to clients in an entertaining manner--either in person or via conference call. Help clients fall in love with our ideas.
Provide and maintain updated information regarding marketing collateral, photography, videos, and all marketing materials.
Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s culture and member services on a national, regional, and local level.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACT
Reports to the Creative Director as part of a team of designers and production artists. Works directly with Account Executives and the Operations Manager.
Experience with print and website conceptualization, layout and design. Logo design experience is a must.
Solid understanding of digital and print publishing pathways
Thorough understanding of current digital design trends
Working knowledge of current web technologies.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Experience working with photographers preferred
Ability to communicate effectively
Excellent organization skills, and keen attention to detail
This position requires 5 years of design experience in Marketing or Advertising, or a relevant combination of education and experience. Agency experience preferred.
Must be able to provide a digital portfolio with strong creative concepts, design work, logos, and other collateral pieces. Should have experience with digital and print design.
Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Experience designing for online media such as websites, e-mail campaigns, social media posts, ad banners, landing pages, etc.Experience in HTML5 and CSS is a big plus.
