The CMA is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Senior Legal Director for Markets, Mergers and Sector Regulation. You will play a critical role in ensuring the legal robustness of our decisions, including in litigation and associated policy development. Working closely with the General Counsel and the Senior Legal Directors for competition and consumer
enforcement, you will jointly lead the CMA’s Legal Service which comprises around 70 lawyers. On individual cases you will be responsible for overseeing, and providing strategic direction to, the work of the legal teams and will advise senior decision makers including Panel Groups, Senior Executives and the Board. Your work will benefit the lives of everyone in the UK and this post offers a richly varied and exciting professional opportunity.
It is an exciting and challenging time to join the CMA. EU Exit means that the number and complexity of cases undertaken by the CMA is set to increase, including in the field of merger control. Alongside preparing for the future, we must continue to deliver our core functions well.
To be successful in this role you will be a fully qualified lawyer with extensive legal experience advising on complex legal issues at a senior level on casework involving markets, mergers and sector regulation activities coupled with a strong track record of senior leadership including line management and the ability to influence and engage colleagues
and external stakeholders.
