Job Description

The National Cyber Crime Unit is the UK lead for tackling the threat from Cyber Crime. 

For the first time, the UK has a single unit with the responsibility and capability to lead the overall response to Cyber Crime. The National Cyber Crime Unit is responsible for coordinating activity across a range of partners and providing specialist cyber support and expertise across law enforcement. 

Working on a national and international level we respond in fast time to rapidly changing threats. This is done using innovative approaches and ground breaking techniques to target cyber criminals causing the greatest threat. 

National Cyber Crime officers are looking to implement a step change in the UK’s overall capability to tackle Cyber Crime, supporting our partners both in industry and Law enforcement to better protect themselves against Cyber Crime. 

The National Cyber Crime Unit’s remit is wide with a variety of teams including: 

  • Cyber Engineering 
  • Technical Cyber 
  • Threat Response 
  • Strategy and partnership 
  • Investigations 
  • Intelligence 


We work collaboratively a with partners to understand the growing use of cyber as an enabler of serious crime types. 

This enables the National Cyber Crime Unit to determine the most effective way of tackling the growing threat. 

There is no typical NCCU officer. 

Whatever the role each individual has a vital part to play and can make a difference. 

The NCCU is advertising for a number of vacancies at G2 Senior Manager level, to join the NCCU’s management team and lead the fight against cyber crime. This includes Senior Manager roles covering: 

  • Cyber Investigations 
  • PROTECT & Infrastructure Investigations 
  • Threat Response 
  • Incident Management 
  • Cyber Intelligence. 


All are high profile roles at the heart of the NCCU’s Senior leadership team which provides unequalled opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the agency. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Cyber investigations, using Law Enforcement powers to conduct criminal justice investigations into the most significant cyber crime threats to the UK; 
  • The NCA’s cyber crime incident response function, working with partners to coordinate the UK’s entire Law Enforcement response to cyber crime;
  • The NCCU’s specialist online investigations teams, including PROTECT, PREVENT and Infrastructure Investigations specialists; 
  • Cyber intelligence, including online target identification, data exploitation and working with partners across the intelligence community to understand the threat and deliver a response; 
  • The UK’s strategy for fighting cyber crime, working with partners across Government and Law Enforcement to design, determine and assure the response to the cyber threat; 
  • Cyber capability development, managing a multi-million pound investment and change programme from business case through to delivery, and identify capability requirements across the cyber crime community.
