About the PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate and ultimately of the environment and society. The PRI is truly independent. It encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks but does not operate for its own profit; it engages with global policymakers but is not associated with any government; it is supported by, but not part of, the United Nations.

Working at the PRI provides an opportunity to engage with highly motivated, culturally diverse professionals on a wide range of cutting-edge issues, such as income inequality, through the lens of sustainable finance. The PRI provides scope for development at all levels with opportunities for project leadership and management working alongside some of the most influential signatories and leaders across financial markets and economies. In combination with a supportive culture that encourages continuous learning and flexible working policies, PRI is a highly engaging place to work on truly transformative issues.

Job Description

This role will support projects that aim to gain a better understanding on how signatories currently invest with sustainability outcomes/impact, what they consider as the related challenges/opportunities and what existing tools they use and new ones they need.

This newly created position will sit within the Sustainability outcomes and SDGs team that leads these projects and works in collaboration with other teams across the PRI to deliver them. The role will focus on research and analysis, and will contribute to publications and guidance. It will also include managing projects involving representatives from PRI signatories, such as organising workshops.

This role reports into the Director of Sustainability Outcomes and SDGs, and sits within PRI’s broader content department of approximately 80 staff [ES1] covering projects on investment practices, stewardship, sustainability issues, policy and sustainable markets.

Whilst the role is being advertised at Senior Specialist level, we are also considering an appointment at a more junior level, dependent on skills and experience. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet the full competencies and experience.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide support to the PRI sustainability outcomes projects and activities. These include projects led by the Sustainability outcomes and SDG team, as well as projects led by other PRI teams and projects led by partner organisations.

Conduct research on sustainability outcomes, including on SDGs, human rights, climate change and other sustainability issues of interest for the PRI, including research on relevant investment practices.

Leading the organisation of workshops with signatories at the regional level, as well as podcasts, webinars, briefings, analysis and publications focused on sustainability outcomes.

Support signatories to expand expertise on sustainability outcomes and relevant practices and requirements.

Support internal collaboration on sustainability outcomes across the content team, including among the sustainability, policy, stewardship and investment practices teams and beyond the content team, including with the signatory relations team.

Participate in external events, fostering relationships with relevant external stakeholders (including think tanks, research institutes, civil society organisations and industry initiatives).

Perform other ad hoc tasks as required, including to support activities of wider sustainability team.

Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior members of the team, including sharing technical knowledge and expertise where appropriate.

Support the Director of Sustainability Outcomes and SDGs in delivering against the team’s business plan and budget.

Provide regular reporting to the Director of Sustainability Outcomes and SDGs and Chief Sustainability Officer as required.
