Senior Quality & Accreditation Manager

The Senior Quality & Accreditation Manager post is a specialist leadership role – with the individual being recognised as the technical authority for the quality and accreditation of Vocational or General Qualifications.

The primary function of this role is to confirm that Pearson’s qualifications are fit for purpose and where regulated comply with all regulatory requirements.

They provide expert technical guidance on regulated and self regulated products primarily to Product Management and Qualification Development teams but also to the wider business as required.

The Senior Quality & Accreditation Manager is expected to have knowledge of best practice for the development of Vocational and/or General Qualifications and is able to consider the impact of his/her advice on the commercial viability and operational delivery of business needs.

The post has a high level of accountability for decisions that will have a direct impact on public confidence and Pearson’s reputation.


  1. To be the Business Owner of the development processes -responsible for the sign off of qualifications to the accountable officer.
  2. To lead the evolution of the QAR process to continue in line with regulatory requirements for qualification developments
  3. To ensure adherence to regulatory and Pearson qualification development requirements and provide evidence of regulatory compliance of the qualification development processes through monitoring activity and validity audits
  4. To be responsible for the documentation of transparent processes, procedures and positions in relation to qualification development - being the gatekeeper of the technical interpretation of regulatory qualification development requirements
5, To ensure that all qualifications are developed to the appropriate framework
  1. To ensure that Self-regulated Framework qualifications are robust
  2. To ensure risks to qualification sign off of our qualifications are escalated appropriately and actively mitigated during qualification development
  3. To use technical expertise to communicate complex information about the appropriate regulatory or reputational impact of qualification design to internal and external stakeholders
  4. To represent the views of Pearson at inter-board meetings and external conferences as appropriate


The development of SRO sign-off risk criteria to determine escalated sign offs

Approval as appropriate of qualifications on behalf of the Responsible officer Pearson Qualifications

Provide Management Reporting on the qualification development process as appropriate.

Providing clear positions on the quality and regulatory robustness of qualifications to support the business throughout the developments.

Developing and delivering training for internal and external staff to build the expertise of Pearson as an Awarding Organisation

To achieve all tasks and objectives within agreed budgets and other management parameters

  • Education or assessment experience
  • Numerate with good report writing/communication skills
