Job Description

Senior Software Engineer: up to £62,203 per annum, circa 27% pension contribution from DWP, flexible working hours and work life balance so you can work in a way that works for you

Our Engineers build and run applications, as part of a collaborative multi-functional agile delivery teams alongside testers, architects, engineers, researchers and more.

As a Senior Engineer you'll be a skilled practitioner and role model for software craft. You're a leading voice, an advocate for engineering best practice.

Our software products will make up services used by millions of people, so it's important we get it right.

You'll make sure we focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality and that we make best use of the latest tech and tooling.

What skills knowledge and experience do you need to show us in your application?

  • Open source technologies like Java, JavaScript, Node.js.
  • Developing on cloud based environments like AWS and Azure.
  • A good understanding of TDD and BDD.
  • SQL and noSQL database applications such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Containerisation - tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • The skills to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services and Microservice Architectures.

You'll have a home 'base' in one of our brilliant digital hubs, in your choice of Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield. But we work flexibly and you won't need to be in every day.
