At MI5, we keep the country safe by investigating and disrupting threats to our national security including terrorism and espionage. We see engineering as the heart of MI5, with our tools and capabilities supporting all aspects of our business, in a truly unique context. As we embark on a period of exciting change, we need passionate, technical leaders to bring modern thinking into the department, extend our current capabilities, and in turn have a direct impact on national security.
About the role
The nature of our work presents us with unique challenges that you will have never seen before, and you’ll take our talented team on an exciting new journey. Owning each problem with confidence and energy, you’ll drive the team to deliver solutions across the full range of intelligence, analytical and corporate business areas. You’ll work closely with delivery leads, product owners and architects, creating a vision that you’re keen to share across the business – and the other agencies we work with. Always aiming to improve the quality of our products, you’ll regularly mentor your team and discuss opportunities for innovation with engineering communities which you will help to lead.
Your technical credibility is sound. But more than that, you’re ready to take the initiative and drive engineering change across MI5 and more broadly the intelligence agencies. A strong communicator, with a flexible approach and a passion for new solutions, you inspire colleagues and partners around you. You’re also excited about your own development, and are prepared to expand and develop your skills.
While we’re a fast-paced, operational business, we respect your work-life balance. So, as well as an attractive salary, you’ll benefit from a supportive environment where you can’t take your work home with you, and a strong culture of trust. Our people are essential to keeping the country safe, so we take pride in creating a satisfying and rewarding working environment.
We particularly welcome applications from women and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.
