Position Purpose:

Global Corporate Affairs & Marketing (GCAM) communicates Pearson's unique position as the world's learning company, while building strong and enduring relationships with our key stakeholders across the global audiences around the world. We focus on helping to strengthen our reputation with policymakers, influencers, the general public, and our employees. We ensure that our brand, communication, digital, and marketing efforts are being driven with global consistency. Collectively, our work is anchored in building a strong global Pearson brand with social purpose at its heart.

We are looking for a sharp, driven, and detail oriented expert to take on the role as Techincal SEO Leadon all aspectsof planning and development of key technical SEO initiatives, helping to build understanding and excitement around the ambitious strategy throughout Pearson. You will also partner closely with others, including Platform Strategy, on any Content Operations activity.

Reporting to the Director of Data and Analytics, you will help shape the domain and migration strategy for Pearson, and specifically for the digital experience arena, and build the team’s global community and culture.

Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management is foundational to success in this role. Thriving in an evolving environment, working to drive innovation, and continuous improvement for efficiency and sustainable growth is key.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the company’s website migration and consolidation efforts from a technical SEO perspective, from stakeholder buy-in to developing 301 redirect plans

Monitor key websites for technical crawl issues and other relevant errors, work with the appropriate teams to implement fixes

Monitor key search engine rankings and make proactive recommendations to improve SERPs across multiple websites

Provide recommendations to address gaps in performance

Be responsible for the company’s SEO application stack (e.g. Screaming Frog, Moz, SiteImprove etc)

Own global SEO KPIs

Conduct content gap analysis

Apply SEO best practices for site navigation, breadcrumbing, internal links, schema and HTML sitemaps

Document best practices for domain, subdomain and directory structure to share with key stakeholders

  • Be the central mentor and enthusiast for search engine opimisation.


Key Attributes:

  • 3 years in a technical SEO role
  • Extensive website migration experience
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS as they relate to SEO.
  • Solid knowledge of the web development process, including the important points at which SEO must be considered.
  • Superb communication skills
  • Analytical skills and strong organizational abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Degree (or equivalent) preferable
