Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 Per Annum, pro rata (Depending on Experience)

About Workbridge
 
Workbridge is part of St. Andrew’s Healthcare and offers a vocational pathway for people with mental illness, learning disabilities, ASD and brain injuries, in which they can gain valuable work skills and build confidence.  We offer a unique environment, allowing our service users to develop their skills in a supported setting across sixteen departments with three of those being open to the public in the form of a small café, garden centre and charity shop. Our service users learn work and life skills that are not only meaningful, but also essential to the day-to-day running of Workbridge. We encourage independence, respect, teamwork and trust. We help to build skills, knowledge & self-esteem in a supportive environment.

About the role
 
We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and highly motivated individual to join our small team of Service Managers, reporting in to the Head of Workbridge.
This important role leads and oversees the improvement, growth, income generation and cost efficiencies of two of the Workbridge retail outlets which deliver income through the garden centre and café. The position is also responsible for the horticultural specialists and training kitchen instructors. The Service Manager has line management and leadership responsibilities for 18 team members.
 
The role will focus specifically on:
Line management and personal development for a horticultural and catering team who teach valuable therapeutic skills to service users with mental illness, learning disabilities, ASD and brain injuries.
 
Working with St Andrew’s patients and/or community service users to provide support and guidance where required.
Developing a business plan for the garden centre and café which grows income and manages costs.
 
Completing month end processes.
Operational efficiencies including ordering of stock, resolving customer issues and staff rotas to ensure optimum shift patterns. The garden centre and café are currently open Monday-Saturday.
 
Working alongside internal partners (such as HR, Marketing, Communication, Finance) to work towards the overall Workbridge goals.
 
The role is primarily Monday-Friday though occasional weekend assistance maybe required depending on business needs.
 
Who are we looking for?
We would like to receive applications from people with proven success in plant nursery/garden centre and/or café/restaurant retail environment in a management or operational role. You will have a successful record of business and/or product development. We are looking for someone who can work autonomously or as part of a team and has a passion for developing others.
 
The ability to empathise and build a rapport with our service users is essential.
You should be able to demonstrate:
  • In-depth plant and pest & disease knowledge ideally with horticultural qualifications
  • Health and Safety knowledge, ideally with food hygiene qualifications
  • An eye for detail and a flair for creative presentation
  • A passion for excellent customer service and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and be a good all-round communicator
  • Ability to lead, train and motivate teams
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm an energetic drive and commercial acumen
  • Business plan development
  • Strong financial understanding of managing budgets in order to deliver budgeted sales and manage non-pay costs.
  • Effective communication for optimum business performance
