At Ofsted, we’re determined to be a force for improvement so that all children and young people have the quality of services they need to support and care for them. To do this, we need passionate social care professionals who know the sector inside out, can see the bigger picture and can change it for the better.
Inspecting a range of settings from children's homes to residential special schools, you’ll play an important role in driving improvement through inspection. You will be in the sector identifying what is working well for children, identifying what needs to be done better- and taking action when things don’t improve.
It’s no small feat. With outstanding leadership qualities, you are able to build relationships and give tough messages, but also to inspire providers to improve their services. You are incisive and determined, able to gather clear evidence to support your judgements. Above all, you put the experiences and progress of children and young people at the heart of all that you do.
Successful candidates will come from a variety of backgrounds; you may be the registered manager of a children’s home or a social work manager in a local authority. You must however hold either a recognised social work qualification or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, and have an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and social care practice. You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive track record in successfully improving outcomes for children.
This is an opportunity to take your extensive career within children’s social care to the next level, transforming the lives and welfare of children across your local region. If you think that you have the qualities and experience for this rewarding challenge, then come and join us.
Our vacancies are in the South East, West Midlands and North East, Yorkshire and Humber regions. If you are based outside of these regions, we would still welcome your application and if you meet the requirements of the role, we will hold your details on file for any future recruitment needs that may arise in your region.
