We seek an experienced Pricing Specialist Manager to join a highly collaborative and fast-moving team dedicated to partnering with HE Product Management, Sales, Finance and leadership teams, being a key partner in developing and pricing winning value propositions to educators, students and academic communities. Critical to the position in this area is successful experience prior experience pricing digital and blended products in subscription models. You will be part of a team that partners across the organization to set list price strategy and discounting policies based on insights gathered from market, competition and customers.

The Pricing Specialist Manager is responsible to work with product management to determine pricing and monetization strategy of new products through the product development process. Product Management holds commercial accountability for product strategy, roadmap and P&L, and will work very closely with Pricing Specialist Manager to set pricing and discounting strategy through the product life cycle to maximize commercial potential. The role reports to the VP of Pricing Strategy and Insights with close working relationships with Product Management, Sales, Finance, and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers price-value map for product concepts in the innovation process hand-in-hand with the product management
  • Determines competitive set for products within a particular portfolio and delivers impactful competitive intelligence allowing Pearson to set pricing to win in the marketplace
  • Partners with the Market Research and Insights function to deliver actionable insights regarding customer’s willingness to pay for a particular portfolio across all formats within the portfolio
  • Leads the annual price setting process inclusive of determining appropriate discounting thresholds that would allow business to achieve its strategic goals
  • Lead pricing pilots to investigate new approaches to set pricing optimally to maximize business goal achievement and profits

Qualifications

Key Requirements and Attributes

  • Degree (or equivalent preferred in Economics, Math or Computer Science)
  • Learning obsessed
  • Data Science and technical Skills (Phyton, SQL, advanced xls)
  • Requires strong experience in pricing analytics, research, and strategy, ideally at an organization with digital subscription offerings
  • Proven data analysis and modeling skills
  • Solid understanding of pricing across geographies
  • Experience working in a matrix-organization with cross functional teams
  • Strong confidence and interpersonal skills to work with senior colleagues and contacts
  • Attention to detail and drive to follow through on projects, tasks and actions
  • Ability to develop and execute data-driving pricing and discounting policies
  • Prior experience in ability to generate impactful insights from data
  • Experience pricing subscription models and digital products, preferred
  • High competence to balance strategic thinking with a focus on operational delivery
