Our Technology team provides the essential digital infrastructure that underpins Pearson’s global portfolio of products and platforms. We have open and collaborative teams in place working to build efficient global platforms and scaling digital products to reach hundreds of millions of learners around the world, while delivering elastic, secure, data-driven services.

This role of a SQL DBA will see you manage, process and cleanse large data sets, support the execution of Delivery projects onshore and abroad and, in addition, to contribute to the ongoing development and stabilisation of our Data and Data Delivery platforms.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and maintain all aspects of data services including cleaning and preparing data for printing, importing data from scanning platforms into database structures, re-coding, reconciling, data quality assurance and exporting data according to specification.
  • Import, manage and validate text based data files with meticulous detail.
  • Maintain the quality control of client data.
  • Develop data manipulation processes using a number of standard documented practices and automation opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reporting systems both internal and client facing including SQL, Tableau, BigQuery

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine, SSIS, SSRS
  • Solid knowledge of T-SQL
  • Experience with SSMS, SSDT, offline database development
  • Database administration of SQL Servers including Performance Tuning and optimisation, Backup/Recovery and Security
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience with C\# highly regarded but not essential
