ROLE: At Liverpool FC, we are committed to offering opportunities for ambitious students to gain experience working in Football with an iconic and international brand. We have some fantastic opportunities for you to kick-start your career!


We have numerous departments throughout the Club, and we can offer you a unique placement opportunity where you will be part of the World’s Greatest Football Family. We are currently looking offer opportunities in the following areas:

All of our placements will give you insight into how our business is structured and how we operate, not to mention a flavor of the exciting future career you could have with us! Students applying for a placement need to have interest and/or career aspiration in the area they apply for.

You will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, contribute to projects and lead meetings, and bring your studies to life.  Every placement student has individual responsibilities and accountabilities, which reflect the department that you will be working in.


Throughout the scheme we aim to give you the opportunity to meet with people from across the business and to help you build a strong understanding of how our departments work together, giving you the immediate opportunity to build a professional network.

Please note – to eligible for a placement, students must be in their second year of their degree to undertake a placement within the penultimate year of their study. These placements are due to commence in September 2018 and we anticipate that they will last for approximately 12 months.

CLOSING:  The closing date for applications is 2nd April 2018.  Selection events will be held throughout May and June.  


Human Resources (Liverpool Based) – Our HR team partner with all departments across the Club to provide support and solutions on People related matters. The student will be accountable for ensuring a seamless and first-class candidate experience when attracting and resourcing new talent into the Club. The HR placement will support with administration and will be accountable for the production of HR legal documents and correspondence. The placement will also involve providing assistance to the People Partners with various HR projects. They will be required to provide first line people advice to colleague queries via email, telephone or face to face conversations. 


Partnerships (Liverpool Based and London Based) – Our Partnership Management team work to provide a best in class partnership experience for all of the Club’s partners, which includes Standard Chartered, New Balance Bet Victor, Western Union and many more.  As a Student Placement within the Partnership team they will have the opportunity to learn more about the partnership /sponsorship function of our business. Within the role they will provide general administration support and assist the team with day to day activities, including coordinating the signed items process.  They will get some hands-on experience of supporting the wider team with any ongoing project work, researching and benchmarking marketing campaigns, supporting with the planning and coordination of events and day to day account management.  They will also get the chance to see how everything our partnership team does comes to life on a match day. 


MARKETING AND DIGITAL MEDIA (Liverpool Based) Marketing (Insight) -  Support the Customer Insight team with digital insight requirements for the business, daily reporting on LFC social media and websites, supporting on-going business requests for digital volume and insight requests from within both the marketing team and the wider business. 


Marketing (Research) - Set up, proof-checking and on-going monitoring of online surveys via the fan panel, survey tool and automated post-match survey processes, Collating the outcomes of the surveys and present back to the Research Manager and wider stakeholders adding relevant commentary & insight, Management of post-match survey dashboards, Sharing outcomes of desk research and industry reporting with the business


Marketing (Memberships) – To work with Customer Service to ensure issues and queries relating to supporters Clubs are being managed and that Customer Services have all details they require to handle queries efficiently.  This placement will help facilitate the twice-yearly branch allocation of tickets and ensure it is administered fairly and transparently. They will also be required to administrate the timely and accurate delivery of branch communication relating to ticket allocation. They will be responsible for the audit the Official Supporters Branch network.


Digital Media (Social) – To support the Digital Media team, the student will help maintain LFC’s presence across various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is exciting, engaging, informative and relevant to our fans.  We are looking for someone with an interest in journalism and good knowledge of the nuances of each social platform, who is creative and good at coming up with ideas and who is willing to work hard and adapt at a moment’s notice. 


Digital Media (LFCTV) -This placement will support with the set up and operation of all technical areas within a live studio broadcast facility. This will include multi-tasking across a wide range of key studio operations including sound mixing, vision control, file based ingest, EVS operation, studio cameras and lighting, encoder operations and signal routing.  The placement will learn MCR (Master Control Room) server based operations; experiencing broadcast services and scheduled transmissions of live and recorded programming. This will include emergency recovery procedures, as well as escalation with external parties where necessary. 


Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (Liverpool based) - This placement will support with both operational and strategical Public Relations matters at a high profile organisation. The placement will focus on the design and development of press releases. They will be involved with the team who focus on our corporate and social responsibility working with residents of the local community. The individual will be accountable for the planning and co-ordination of events and also responsible for the evaluation of PR activity and required to make recommendations to improve.


Fan Experience (Liverpool Based) - This placement will support in the management of our fan journey mapping and fan experience improvement. Th placement will have exposure to the planning and execution of strategy in relation to the Liverpool FC fan experience. They will have hands on experience of launching and refining new contact channels and experience of stakeholder influencing.


Merchandising – Product Team Assistant (Liverpool Based) - This placement will be assisting in research for both hardware and clothing departments. They will be helping to create technical packs and liaise with suppliers on design changes.  They will assist in the process of amending product overviews to be distributed to the wider business. One key task of the placement is printing, preparing and filing design packs ready for each session. In addition, they will assist with the design of smaller ranges such as reactive t-shirts and final ranges. It is essential that this student is able to use Photoshop and Illustrator.


E commerce and Marketing (Liverpool Based) – This placement will be required to conduct regular e-commerce market research and keep up to date with market trends. They will assist with resolving customer issues which will liaising with other internal departments such as Fan Experience. In addition, they will support the Trade Manager on improving the personalisation to key International markets. It is essential that this student has experience with development of Sprint Projects and UX Testing as this role requires close work with the UX Manager to deliver projects.  They will be Involved with the trading of the stores. There will also be opportunities for a student to help support and develop a new brand in the E-Commerce world. Supporting the Digital Marketing team to make sure we are maximising online sales opportunities


Soccer Schools (Liverpool Based) - The placement role would include the following areas, with a specific focus on China. Supporting with new business development, presentations, meetings, proposals, calls and translation. The placement will be responsible for China partner liaison, working with supporting with marketing support, brand sign off, communications planning, delivery and day to day contract rights management. The placement will focus on the local adaptation of programmes and packaging our programme in a way that is relevant for the China market. They will be assisting in the production of materials for our coach accreditation project and working to support the creation these successfully for our local coaches in China. They will be accountable for assessing competitor activity in market and identifying opportunities for development. It is an essential requirement that this student can fluently speak Chinese.


Football - Data Management & Analysis (Liverpool Based) - To help set up and maintain consistent and accurate data sets across the club derived from various sources such as GPS data and manual data collection. To respond to requests from the department to manipulate data sets, produce visual interpretations and communicate results. To work both in conjunction with the Fitness and Conditioning Team at Melwood and the Club research department (A data science degree is essential to this role although applicants with a Maths/Statistics degree or an Undergraduate would be considered)
