Job Description

Technology Operations Manager - Microsoft Office 365

Description

At Pearson, we’re committed to a world that’s always learning and to our talented team who makes it all possible. From bringing lectures vividly to life to turning textbooks into laptop lessons, we are always re-examining the way people learn best, whether it’s one child in our own backyard or an education community across the globe. We are bold thinkers and standout innovators who motivate each other to explore new frontiers in an environment that supports and inspires us to always be better. By pushing the boundaries of technology — and each other to surpass these boundaries — we create seeds of learning that become the catalyst for the world’s innovations, personal and global, large and small.

In Technology Operations we are leading a global initiative to move all our colleagues onto Office365 (client and online) including the rollout of InTune, eCDN and voice for Teams. This work is well underway and we are looking for an experienced senior manager to set up our operations function for the Microsoft ecosystem.

Our operations manager will have an opportunity to recruit their team and build out a strong culture of best practice across their support scope. The ideal person will have high energy, a genuine understanding of how to create a capability working in collaboration with service desk, engineering and global incident, problem and change management leaders and staying closely aligned to our hosting and network operations teams.

Pearson is an equal opportunities employer. We do not discriminate against employees or job applicants and select the best person for each job based on relevant skills and experience.

We are also committed to building an accurate picture of the make-up of the workforce and encouraging equality and diversity.

The information you provide will stay confidential, and be stored securely. It will not be seen by those involved in making decisions as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

What do you need to bring to this role?

  • Office365 operations management experience - and the accompanying knowledge of how to get the best from Microsoft as a partner and navigate around their complex organisation to get to the expertise and support you need
  • A passion for ops and an understanding of how to coach colleagues to build monitoring and resilience at the ground level
  • Sound technical understanding of the end user landscape from desktop imaging and client through infrastructure, authorisation and authentication to the end user experience of the services received
  • Experience supporting mobile, desktop, messaging & collaboration, video and voice within the Microsoft ecosystem and Active Directory
  • An analytical mind and an eye for ongoing improvement - including experience building and implementing processes where improvements were needed from the ground up
  • Flexible leadership style, able to influence where necessary and drive where needed
  • Good working knowledge of operations best practices and processes - incident, change, problem, release
  • Previous engagements with large programme teams, service transition and acceptance
  • Time zone flexibility and experience of working in a globally distributed organisation
  • Broad thinker who likes to solve problems and is able and willing to step outside their comfort zone to the benefit of the wider team
