Job Description

The Terminal Supervisor will play a critical role in the successful operations of the Whiting Terminal. As the Terminal Supervisor, you will assume all terminal operating, maintenance, and compliance responsibilities for the Whiting Terminal. You will work closely with the US Pipelines and Logistics (USPL) team, the Whiting team, and Integrated Supply and Trading team to ensure that the supply and demand needs of BP's internal and external customers are met. The Terminal Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable and environmentally friendly operations of the terminal.

  • Responsible for ensuring the continuous and safe operations of the terminal
  • Coordinate the pipeline schedule (tankage, times, lines, etc.)with Whiting refinery
  • Work with IST to obtain alternate supply and exchange coverage at other locations (MAP, other proprietary terminals, etc.)
  • Coordinate sampling and tank gauging as needed for additive tanks. Manage all product quality issues
  • Assure terminal inventories (gains/losses) are balanced each day/ month.
  • Meet the annually established KPI targets (cpg, dollar/hour, utilization) and strive to meet stretch targets.
  • Generate operating reports daily ,weekly, monthly, based on TMS)
  • Work with dispatch as needed
  • Work with Engineering / TopTech to resolve TAS-C issues that affect the loading or delivery process.
  • Facilitate and assist with all TAS-C related initiatives that directly affect the terminal (training, upgrades, new procedures, etc.)
  • Utilize WMP for all schedule routine maintenance
  • Management and coordination of the terminal operator's daily maintenance and repair efforts.
  • Work to resolve all terminal / rack breakdowns.
  • Safety leads for all issues at the terminal
  • Ensure all loading rack equipment are in good /safe working condition.
  • Work with meter proving group to ensure accurate metering of all products.
  • Ensure proper function of the fire system.
  • Ensure all tank farm equipment and components are in good / safe working condition.
  • Work with pipeline operators to ensure communication of terminal changes and tank maintenance.
  • Ensure integrity of tank farm secondary containment. Manage storm water discharges and retention.
  • Work with company corrosion specialist group to ensure proper terminal CP protection.
  • Ensure proper operation of air pollution control equipment (VCU etc.)
  • Ensure that all regulatory required testing and documentation is up to date and in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Routinely inspect the terminal for leaks and drips that could lead to a spill as required by the SPCC plan.
  • Assist with keeping the terminal compliance file updated.
  • Work to identify process improvement type projects to improve terminal operations.
  • Work with the Facility Engineer, and contractor to safely execute all projects.
  • Work with the DOM terminal Engineer to ensure the capital and expense budgets are on target.
  • 24/7 on call responsibility for all terminal related issues.
  • May need to work weekends as needed
  • On scene commander for emergency response at the terminal

  • A High school diploma is required

  • 3-5 years of terminal operations experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state , local DOT, OSHA, EPA, regulations.
