Trade Sales and Marketing Executive

An exciting new role to support the Schools Trade Sales and marketing operations by integrating direct sales, marketing and publishing priorities into the trade sales and marketing plans.

Key activities include identifying growth opportunities, segmenting the market, defining market leading acquisition campaigns, collection and presentation of customer data metrics, reporting and supporting the Trade Schools NAM to defend and grow the existing customer base and attract new customers.

This role sits between our direct and trade sales, marketing and publishing operations and requires someone who can act as a proactive go-between the two areas of the business by immersing themselves in all aspects of both businesses. To coordinate the deployment and test of different marketing channels and campaigns, and drive their reporting and analysis.


This is a role which supports busy sales and marketing teams and requires an individual who can contribute to the day-to-day business processes that underpin campaign execution.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in:

  • Creating and analysing sales reports;
  • Close attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong sense of teamwork;
  • A pro-active hands-on approach, with the ability to execute campaigns independently at tactical and detailed levels;
  • A passion for customer experience – reviewing products, customers and market dynamics;
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively;
  • An interest in trade as a marketing channel and an awareness of the needs of trade suppliers;
  • A passion for analysing product, customers and market dynamics to connect the right prospect to the right product or service;
  • Competitor analysis;
  • Able to seek support from managers in effective, timely manner;
  • Working with agencies;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Experience of working in a matrix structure.


  • Ability to collate, interpret and report on sales data;
  • Track record of successful management of business critical projects and information;
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and stay focused on task, to ensure it is completed within agreed deadlines;
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in marketing or busines;
  • High level of enthusiasm and drive – used to self-start, inspire and motivate the other;
  • Result driven with the energy and resilience to make things happen;
  • Ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally;
  • Commercial mind set;
  • Ability to work under pressure, staying ahead of complex schedules, and seek to improve knowledge;
  • Can build relationships and work collaboratively both internally and externally;
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint);


  • Good understanding of the UK education sector;
  • Experience of adhering to a well-known UK or international brand;
  • Experience of basic budget management;
  • CIM qualified or strong desire to gain CIM qualification;
  • Experience of trade marketing practices.
