Summary of Role

The job holder will work across the UK business to optimise the experience of using UK websites to drive revenue and improve customer experience.

Main activities / responsibilities

  • Overall ownership of CX for UK websites ensuring all sites follow user centred design approach
  • Design and maintenance of IA to ensure new content and development are consistent and in line with UX guidance
  • Analysis of customer journey across sites to drive revenue, simplify task completion
  • Usability test and research to validate potential CX/UX solutions
  • Competitor analysis and benchmark analysis to understand commercial landscape
  • Collaboration with Global and UK design teams on UI
  • Communication UX design rationale to key stakeholders
  • Support development work and input on prioritisation of backlog based on customer needs

Internal / External stakeholders

This is a specialist marketing role, which requires the ability to build direct and cross-functional relationships. Key stakeholders include (without being limited to):

  • Local and global marketing teams
  • Website content managers
  • Digital marketing team
  • Customer services teams
  • UK design team and publishing teams
  • External agencies
  • Product owners and development teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications, experience and personal specification

This role requires specialist knowledge and experience of user experience and website optimisation. The job holder will work with a wide range of teams in a range of locations, and will have an important role to play in driving our evolution to a truly digital company.

As such, the role requires an energetic, creative and commercially minded individual with:

  • Demonstrated experience in the field, 3 years of hands on experience in a UX role including experience of designing for desktop/mobile
  • Good listening and clear communication skills, who is able to collaborate with people with other areas of focus
  • The ability to communicate UX design rationale to content and marketing teams, directors, stakeholders and leadership teams, all within a user-centered design process
  • Strong prioritisation skills and the flexibility to re-prioritise and manage workload; meet critical project milestones and deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving and challenging environment
  • Appreciation and understanding of the commercial landscape and trends, awareness of the balance between user needs, business requirements and technology constraints
  • Experience of planning, conducting and sharing user insight: quantitative and qualitative researchers, treejack tests, surveys and interviews
  • Confidence in presenting and influencing a wide range of stakeholders through building prototypes, presentations and wireframes
  • Proven experience at creating documentation to share UX progress, updates and findings
  • The ability to set and follow processes and procedures with a high level of attention to detail, but flex these processes and procedures when the market or situation changes.

  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills andthe ability to seek creative solutions to problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good diplomatic and collaborative working relationships across the business
  • Proficient in several design tools, and curious about new tools and techniques
  • Ability to enthuse and motivate people
  • The ability to engage with the values and vision of the organisation

Desirable:

  • A data-driven mindset and the ability to create, analyze, and recommend from KPIs as well as generate reports for the executive level.
  • Experience with web analytics systems (Google Analytics), as well as various other digital analytics tools
  • Good understanding of the UK education sector
  • The ability to manage third party agencies and suppliers
  • Experience of adhering to a well-known UK or international brand.
