The Digital Channels and Experience team is responsible for Pearson’s flagship digital properties and experiences ranging from web, ecommerce to post-sale interactions. We are looking for a Vice President and Head of Web Product Management and Platform Operations who will be responsible for defining the overarching product direction and strategy for all customer-facing websites starting with Pearson.com. This leadership role will conceptualize, create and deploy features and ecommerce experiences utilized by millions of online users and learners. The right individual will be technically oriented (but not technical.) She/He exemplifies founder’s mindset and is excited to build the future of a \#lifelong learner experience from scratch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of all phases of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing and introduction of new digital assets to the market. Review and prepare concise product requirements, including user stories, mock-ups and user experience specifications
  • Maintain one unified backlog for digital. Drive prioritization of requirements and in partnership with IT ensure development resources are focused on the highest value items on the product roadmap
  • Manage the web and store operations including product catalog updates, content publishing and campaign deployment
  • Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders to capture business, product and high level technical requirements
  • Collaborate with VP Experience & Design and UX/UI designers to deliver simple, functional user-flows and consistent visual designs for products and features
  • Work with internal engineering teams to ensure adherence to product release schedules and the overall roadmap
  • Oversees the coordination of Request For Proposal (RFP) for the selection of external vendors. Coordinates and defines Statement of Work (SOW), negotiates contracts and ensures selected vendors are on boarded and are consistently driving outcomes.
  • Over time reduce reliance on vendors and build team by attracting and hiring talent

Qualifications

Must Have Attributes :

  • 10 years Product management experience (including 3 years B2C/e-commerce product management experience in an agile setting)
  • Experience successfully building a product management discipline, partnering with internal development teams and transitioning to agile while delivering on aggressive timelines.
  • Global Business Acumen - Understand the complexity of business on a global scale. Embrace cultural and individual differences with empathy. Work with the nuances of specific local cultures to make informed decisions.
  • Growing teams and hiring talent that are highly effective both in terms of impact and team culture
  • Provide input to annual budget exercises, and manage organizational spending to set budgets
