Volunteers are central to Macmillan’s ambition to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can. Essential to everything we do, we are committed to providing the best possible volunteering experience for everyone who gives their time to Macmillan and to working across the sector to innovate and test ways of involving volunteers

What is the role?
As a Volunteering Business Partner, you are a key member of the central volunteering team, working closely with the Volunteering Leadership Team to help drive Macmillan’s volunteering strategy at a geographical and regional level.

Partnering with senior leaders you will offer strategic input to help business leaders identify where volunteering can add value, supporting them to develop appropriate volunteer solutions that can help deliver Macmillan’s strategy and people plans.

Encouraging and fostering greater collaboration both locally and nationally, you will help to ensure that local volunteering plans are aligned and activities where possible are delivered or supported through effective partnership working to help contribute to better strategic volunteer planning.

With line management responsibility, you will use your leadership skills to manage, develop and support a small team of Volunteering Improvement Advisers, who provide a range of volunteering advice, guidance, and support to volunteering stakeholders within local teams, acting as a point of contact for complex volunteering queries and issues.

Who are we looking for?
Someone who contributes to a culture of volunteer involvement, innovation, and continuous improvement, your success in this role will be built on your experience of shaping the volunteering agenda in a complex environment or developing and delivering strategic volunteer initiatives that add value to existing plans.

You will have an in depth understanding of the wider volunteering sector including an excellent grasp of legal issues relating to volunteering and sector quality standards. Coupled with experience of matrix working and the ability to build and develop productive collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders you will influence and offer appropriate challenge to business decisions.

To apply you will need to be able to travel across these geographic locations at least 2 days per week. This role is home based but will involve national travel across the UK in the normal course of the work. Some evening and out of hours work will also be required and occasional overnight stays.

What can we offer you?
