Volunteering Business Partner - South West, Midlands & Wales

Volunteering Business Partners are a new role and have been developed in response to the significant growth in volunteering across Macmillan particularly in Regional Fundraising and Service Development and the greater focus on localised delivery of volunteering activities.
Reporting to the Volunteering Programme Manager for Quality within the Volunteering Division, this role will be responsible for partnering with all Directorates to provide strategic volunteering advice and support solutions locally to enable the effective delivery of local volunteering plans and activities in line with central strategy and the organisations vision for its volunteers. The role will have responsibility for three direct reports.
As the designated partner for Senior Leadership Teams you will be responsible for partnering with senior leaders and act as their main point of contact, providing them with a direct link to the central volunteering strategy team and wider central volunteering support functions as well as connecting them to other key colleagues to help advise on business solutions and contribute to better strategic planning at a local level.
You will use your management and leadership skills to manage, develop, coach and support a small team of Volunteering Improvement Advisers, working across the geographies to provide a range of advice, information, coaching and support to volunteer managers within the local area Fundraising and Service Development Teams to enable them to work/ engage effectively with volunteers.
Someone who contributes to a culture of volunteer involvement, innovation, and continuous improvement, your success in this role will be built on your experience of shaping the volunteering agenda in a complex environment or developing and delivering strategic volunteer initiatives that add value to existing plans. You will have gained a high level of understanding of the volunteering sector including an excellent understanding of legal issues relating to volunteering and sector quality standards.
With a focus on collaboration, you will ensure greater connectivity of senior leaders across Directorates to contribute to the development and delivery of national and regional volunteering projects and activities to ensure consistency. You will be skilled at building and maintaining effective relationships but have a willingness to offer appropriate challenge to business decisions, you will also have a high level of communication, outstanding relationship management and be comfortable with ambiguity.

This role is home based and involves daily travel in the normal course of the work and therefore a current valid driver license is essential. There will also be a requirement to travel to London for team meetings. Some evening and out of hours work will also be required, and occasional overnight stays.
